Start with about 1/2 ounce of dry buds.

Use a food processor or coffee grinder to chop it as finely as possible.

Remove as much stem material as possible.

Using a candy thermometer to measure the temperature, heat 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil in a small sauce pan to about 325 F. The temperature should rise to about 350 F after being removed from heat.

When the temperature reaches a peak of about 350 F and begins to fall, add the marijuana powder. The oil will sizzle. Stir thoroughly. There should be just enough oil to saturate all the weed and make a thick paste. Add more oil if necessary, but don't use too much.

When it reaches the desired consistency and is mixed thoroughly, use medium heat to bring it to 300-325 F while stirring constantly. When it gets to the right temperature it will look more oily and you can smell vapor trails. Remove it from the heat at this point, cover and set aside to cool to below 100 F. Do not overcook. It should still be green after heating. If it's brown, it was overheated.

This is an herbal gelcap machine. They are available at health food stores for around $15. The gelcaps and machines to put them together come in different sizes. I bought the bigger one of the two they had. A bag of 500 gelcaps was also about $15.

Take the capsules apart and put the bottoms of them in the holes on the machine. The top rim of the capsules will be just below the edges of the holes when the machine is in this position. Make sure the gelcaps do not come in contact with any water or they will melt and fall apart.

When the weed mixture is below 100 F, spread it over the top of the machine.

Push it around with a spatula until all the capsules are full.

Slide the machine into its other position so that the tops of the capsules are exposed.
