Some people deffinately do not like the smell. But if you strained it. And if you let it harden and seperate in the fridge overnight. If you used THAT butter.. Especially if you added M&M's there will be little to no taste at all. DO not worry. IF you followed everything above as I said, there will be only a slight, miniscule even, taste. Do not be put off by the smell, some people just don't like it. However, do not think that the brownies will be like that. That only happens when you leave scraps in the butter and then they are eaten.. Those, however, taste nasty. Mine, however, could be left at a party, and no one would be the wiser(DO NOT DO THIS!!). That was just an example of how little of a taste there is. Also, if you used M&M's. They just taste like fudgy M&M's.... mmmm. delicious

I forgot to stop back by to report my budder I made several weeks ago. And I still have two more "cubes" in the freeze for future yummy snacks.

WoW! Used it to make some box brownies. Tasted nothing but chocholately goodness...........with not a hint on the elixir within! ......which I found to be dangerous cause I ended up eating 4 of 'em!

Excellent stone, definitely put me down like a tranquilizer dart stuck in my hind quarters!!

(is tranquilizer dart off-topic? )

Made my butter, er well marge. I think thats the part i dont like the smell or the taste of.
Anyhow it turned out just as you said Karma, green flo disc of what reminded me of industrial grease. I had nearly 1/2 pint of it from 3/4oz good trim, 1oz lower plant bud (good hydro stuff) +250gm bakingmarge. I made some cookie mixture up, used an 30gms of butter to six cookies, and made 2 batches.
Question is could I have had the same result using say 1/2 the butter? Less yukka butta / more strength would be desirable.
It works pretty well though. I had 1/2 a large cookie left it 40mins then had the other 1/2. It took me where I wanted to go. Twas a long process getting there though, so I`ll take a whole one from the off next time. One and a 1/2 might be a good slide
I`ll make it with proper butter next time, I fancy the rice crispies recipe Mama Budz mentioned, not to mention the Scottish Tablet.

Hey Karma,

I wanted to thank you for the amazingly simple and effective recipe!

Let me recount my own experience...

I read of your problems with butter but I hate margarine so I made ghee or clarified butter to remove the milk solids having an end result of just butterfat. It worked AMAZINGLY...

My end result was tamer than it could have been but it was great for the lightweights and it meant more cookies for everyone ;-)

here we go...

in a saucepan, melt 1 pound of butter over a slow flame. As the butter melts, the proteins will foam on top and the milk solids will settle on the bottom. Let it simmer for 20 minutes or so over the low heat. With a spoon, skim the foam off of the top until all you see is clear butterfat goodness. Continue to simmer until you see the butter begin to darken a little. The longer you leave the butter the darker and "nuttier" in flavor... The French refer to this as "beurre noisette" or hazlenut butter because of the brown color and nutty flavor.

Careful decant the butterfat into a heatproof pyrex dish making sure not to disturb the milk solids at the bottom - you want only the clear butterfat.

One pound of butter should give you around 1.5 cups of ghee.

I then followed your recipe with about 5 cups of water and the ghee. I used half an oz of popcorn buds and shake from S2 (if you have followed my journal you will know which plant that is)

I let it simmer for a few hours until there was about 2 cups of water left. Let it cool, strained it and poured it into a tupperware bowl. Chilled over night on the counter and then put in the fridge for a day.

The result was the perfect green disk you refered to - unbelievably pure and so easy!!

Here is the cookie recipe I used - it made 36 cookies and the lightweights were buzzing on 2 cookies and the rest of us needed about 3 or 4 - Next time, I think I could go with a tighter ratio on the butter to buds but it was amazing - the cookies tasted delicious and everyone was humming for about 5 hours.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cannaghee, room temperature
3/4 cup peanut butter, chunky or smooth
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

I also melted 1/2 cup of chocolate chips in case the cookies tasted grassy.

In a bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Beat together the butter, peanut butter, and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Spoon in melted chips until incoporated. Gradually beat in the flour mixture.

Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled, or about 2 to 4 hours.

Take tablespoonfuls of dough and roll into balls with hands. Place about 3 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Using a dinner fork dipped in flour, lightly press cookies, flattening and forming a criss-cross pattern on each cookie.

Bake at 375° until golden brown, or about 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for a minute; transfer to rack to cool completely.

...Isn't it amazing how the oil suspension provides a wonderful base for so many yummies? :liplick:

I love making candies with it...no need for a second heating in the oven and the confections are fabulous.

...mind if I take a cookie ?

...you can do it the quick way...I always keep packets of Knorr classic Bernaise sauce in the house -- add milk and cannabutter/ghee ...

And salmon is WONDERFUL... 8-10 minutes in the microwave with a few herbs and it is perfect or 15-20 at 350F with some flavored bread crumbs on top in the oven...

Come to think of it, I know what I'm having for my Birthday supper now

Hello all -

I had a harrowing experience with MJ brownies a few days ago.
I was never so sick in my life. Really, I've never been that sick and I've never seen anyone so sick (used to be a nurse). I vomited my guts out for 4 hours.... couldn't get up off the bathroom floor. Every time I lifted my head up out of the toilet bowl I would get "bed spins" so bad that I had to put my head back down. About 20 min. after I ate the 1/2 brownie I felt like I was coming on to a drug, but never had this experience. I never really did feel high. Let's just say I spent the night hugging the cold toilet bowl. Glad it was cold too!

I OD'd on the stuff.

The next day I was still "under the influence" but unable to get out of bed. My body was still sore on Friday - 3 days later and I'm just now - 5 days later back to normal.

This incident happened on Tuesday night.

OMG! where are the warning labels when you need them?

I thought my "butter" wasn't any good or at the least inferior to anything you would make. When I made the brownies and dumped the butter in a whole bunch of liquid from the bottem of the bowl went into the brownie batter. I thought, oh crap, that's not the butter, that must be the water that settled on the bottom when the butter came to the top. So... I went ahead and scraped some of the unmelted butter into the batter as well. I did strain it with cheesecloth. I followed the directions to a T except I couldn't let it cook all the way down because of the smell.... I figured I lost potency because of that.

Who knew that it could be so potent!!! Man was I sick!

I have to post some kind of warning to folks.... this wasn't funny.

I'm sure I'll never eat another thing with cannabutter in it. uke:

Oh god, the thought makes me cringe. This may be going a bit far for some folks but I guess I need to get this out.... when I vomited I could smell that butter, that would make me gag. There was an oil slick on top of the water in the toilet, that oil was the canna butter.

BE CAREFUL, GO SLOWLY, EAT A BIT AND THEN WAIT 20-30 MIN TO SEE HOW YOU WILL TOLERATE IT.
The piece I ate was 1"x2"x1/2" - small amount!!


So that's my story... today, I feel back to normal!
