![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Folks, ![]() I'm crap at cloning. There.... I've said it. Recently I took 150 good cuttings and killed all but 8 of them. And those 8 aren't looking that great! That's a 5.33% success rate, which could certainly do with some improvement... I asked for help in my journal (linked below) and as usual, the generous people on this site delivered. I was given loads of methods, several of which could be scaled up to meet my needs... so... which one... ![]() Mr Burns, whilst much more successful than me at cloning, has kindly agreed to join me in this quest. Between the two of us (with perhaps a special-guest grower or two ) we are going to try 9, yes 9, of the suggested and more common methods of cloning, to see which works best, fastest, easiest, etc. for us. I'd like to stress that last bit again folks, because if Burnsy or myself don't finally choose someone in particular's favourite method to run with, it doesn't mean it's not good, it just means it's not for us. ![]() Here's the final nominations that we are trying. Thank you, but we don't need anymore!: 1. NDS's "Ice Cream Clones" 2. Gel2root "Cold 6-pack" 3. Daltron's "Chicken (clones) in a Bucket" 4. Dev's "Ol' Classic" 5. "Supposedly EZ" clone 60 site 6. "Matrix (gel) reloaded" 7. "Clones in a Jiffy" pellets 8. Rockclimber's "Knee-Deep in Water Babies" 9. Nutriculture's 20 plant aeroponic propagator I'll be doing no.s 1-5 starting today and Mr Burns will be doing 6-9 in a few days. We'll both do 10 clones in each system (I may do more in the EZ Clone but only 10 will count) so we can easily work out the success % rate.. Obviously questions are welcome, and if we're doing your method/system, please step in and steer us right if we're going off-track. Let the good times, with easy cloning roll... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Glad to see you on board JointVenture. Went shopping today for the bits I'd need... Came back with a full car load.. Here's a summary of the five methods/systems I'm testing. 10 cuttings in each, all prime cuts (branch tips) and all dipped in Clonex:1. NDS's "Ice Cream Clones" - 100% Vermiculite in popsicle/ice lolly moulds. I've got a 100litre bag of Vermiculite and of course the lolly maker! I'll be lighting this with 36w of cool flouros. ![]() 2. Gel2root "Cold 6-pack" - This is a special gel, packed in plastic see-thru yoghurt sized containers, joined in a six pack. It even has it's own little propagator lid.. Bless.. I'll probably light this with 36w of cool flouros as well. ![]() 3. Daltron's "Chicken (clones) in a Bucket" - The details of this are a few threads down. Basically 3 plastic buckets/basins on top of eachother, the bottom holding water, with cotton/fibreglass torch wicks that lift the moisture up to 100% Perlite in the top basin. I'll be lighting this with either 90 watts of cool CFL's or a 200w Envirolite. ![]() 4. Dev's "Ol' Classic" - Rockwool starter plugs in a Propagator. This is the one I've tried and failed. I did however do several major things wrong. This time I'll be following a clear schedule that Deviant has kindly laid out. I'll light this using either cool flouros or the dim light from the 400w mh over my Mother plants. 5. "Supposedly EZ" clone 60 site - This EZ Clone machine is obviously the most expensive out of them all, in fact, the most expensive system you can probably buy.. I think it counts as aeroponic, but there's two airstones in it too... We'll see if it's all it's cracked up to be... Whatever it is, it looks cool... ![]() ![]() I'm lighting it with a 220w Starlite 4 bulb flouro rig. Lovely bit of kit this ...![]() If the people who told me these systems want me to light them with something else, let me know... I have other lights. In the mean-time I'll be getting Daltron's system ready because it needs to marinade for 24hrs. ![]()

I have 100% success rate using the good ol´ cut and stick... I´ve tried many different methods but nothing comes close to just sticking them in light moist soilmix. Good luck, this is gonna be very informative.
