Question Parkinson's: Recommended Stains?
permalink

Hi Folks,

I'm wondering if someone with more knowledge about medical uses might be able to help.

My aunt has Parkinson’s. She experiences a lot of joint and muscle pain as well as very severe tremors.

She lives in a non-medical use state so there are no local pharmacies that she can turn to for recommendations. Most of the strains I’m currently growing are sativa dominate (Casey Jones, Satori, and Bubblicious), and so I’ve been providing her with Sadhu (Manadal seeds), since it’s the only non-sativa dominate strain.

She says that smoking helps a lot, so I’m planning to make some room in my grow room for a strain(s) that would be best suited for my aunt.

I’ve been shopping around and so far i'm considering stains such as Chronic, White Russian, and AK-47, but I would really appreciate some advice and recommendations for strains that might be of particular value to my aunt.

Thanks in advance!

Peace,
-eyes88

I've tried both White Russian and AK-47 from Serious Seeds. I liked the Russian more. To me, it felt like it was a softer smoke, yet very strong. I smoked it for months straight and did not develop the type of tolerance I would have if it were from the street. The AK came on a bit stronger. The best way I could explain it if you were sitting on a sofa taking bonghits would be that the AK hits you in the head behind the eyes but makes you feel like you are melting into the couch. If you sit on a sofa between two cushins and put your head ear-deep into the gap between the cushins, that is the approximate feeling I had.

Thanks for the feedback on White Russian and AK-47.

In my searches I've also come across a few other stains that look like they might work.

Sensi - G13 x Hash
Sensi - Hashplant
Sensi - NL 5 x Haze
Delta Labs - Stargazer
White Label - Super Skunk

Do you have any experience with any of these strains? I have much less personal experience with indica dominate strains so i appreciate the input.

Thanx,
- eyes88

sorry i really dont have any suggestions. other than my TCS i havent really had any 'genes' from indoors. hell hardly any 'mids' around here

what i did want to say eyes88 is i commend you. this is a great great thing you are doing for your aunt.

thats the love for the ones that need medicine. thats the ones we really need to be petitioning DC and your local representatives about.

full decrim and/or full legalization will naturally fall inline behind that. the patients need it first and now

now if anyone has ANY tie to Hollywood i'd love to hear the results from people such as Michael J. Fox and Muhammad Alli COME PUBLIC about the help it does ... they would be a mighty voice.

i saw an episode of Inside the Actors Studio with MJF and half way through he said "one sec, i have to get some medicine", you could see about 2 min after he sat back down almost all the tremor stopped. now there is only a few medicines im sure that can take effect that quick. one is marijuana. and hell i couldnt even think of any other. Did he go smoke? ... if he did he's more high profile for the cause. to me eyes88 your aunt is just, if not more, important. because she is one that is known personally by a member.

i commend you

Thank you Tommy_Chong for the kind words, but really i'm sure that i'm not doing anything more than most any member of GC would do given my situation.

Here's an update on what i've learned in the past few days..

First, it seems that pretty much any indica dominate strain would do the trick and prove helpful to my aunt, so with that being said my next objective is to obtain a range of indica strains so that I can (with firsthand experience) find the best one(s) for relieving my aunt's Parkinson's symptoms. If there's something I'm missing in terms of a strain that you think I should investigate, please let me know.

My grow space is somewhat limited, so maximum number of new strains i can add at this point is probably 3 or 4.

So this is what I’m thinking of getting:

The White strains seem to be highly regarded for their medical applications and after looking at what's available from the seedbanks it seems like White Russian (Serious) is a good choice.

The Kush strains are also highly regarded for pain relief and muscle relaxation. Th Seeds has a few nice Kush choices, MK Ultra, Burmese Kush, and Kushage. Sensi’s G13 x Hashplant, might fall into this grouping, but I’m not sure about that.

I'm really not sure what the third (or fourth) group should be, but the Star strains such as Sensi Star (from White Label), or Stargazer (from Delta Labs) seem like a possible third grouping. They are strong indicas and presumably different enough from the Whites and Kushes to make a reasonable third grouping. I'm not sure about this...so if anyone could identify a third or fourth grouping of indica strains I would be most appreciative.

So...White Russian, one of the Kushes, and one of the Stars... Am I missing something important? Is there another indica lineage that I should investigate? Should i add to or replace one of the strains i'm considering?

There were several stains that are highly regarded for their medical benefits, but I’ve not been able to locate them in any of the seedbanks I’ve checked. These include: Dynamite, Lifesaver, and Mr Nice's Medicine Man .

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, experiences and recommendations you can offer...

peace,
- eyes88

The pro's about Serious Seeds are their stability. I was reading about the seed scene in Spain and how every seed seller is doing lots of fem work, except Serious Seeds and they are one of the few that still have demand...tells you something about them. 11 seeds per pack.

Mr. Nice seeds come in packs of 15 so you get 50% more than you're used to. Very good genetics from stand up guys.

I can't comment on Dynamite or Lifesaver other than I have not seen Lifesaver around after the breeder quit the scene so it would be harder to find.

Cheap seeds that I have heard work well for pain were Nirvana's Papaya or Grapefruit, can't remember.
