They have overhead, big overhead, and your also paying for variety and the security of buying in a store. Imagine a 80 year old lady that is a cancer patient. I wouldn't want my grandma buying on the street

Crazy... but while you dug this up.. on that subject I can say that you're not paying for security and strain selection. You're paying for the club owners' nice cars and bigger houses. The bad thing about the dispensaries in CA is that they're so accepted and common that they've become commercialized, with high prices and people making a lot of money. One of the 'clubs' nearest to me opened only a few years back and the owner already upgraded to a huge mil+ house near the beach. It sucks.. because usually it's the people who need the medicine the most that can't afford it. You give the 80 year old grandma example.. how can these people in good conscience try to sell her $100 8ths?

I'll stop by the dispensaries once in a blue moon but I'm going to stick to homegrown from here on.

Those clubs might have a bit more overhead than your average kid selling bags but they also have a shitload more volume allowing them to purchase at or below wholesale directly from growers and then turn it over for top dollar in very small quantities. Normal black market doesnt work like that, its gotta change hands many times before reaching the end user.. but yet we're still seeing black market prices in these clubs (or higher). It just doesn't add up. People are walking away with a lot of money making the entire medical thing look bad.

NORCALlegalgrow is beginning to sprout.

If you went to oakland and SF and found no purple clones then you went to the wrong places. In Oakland the Cafe Blue Sky regularly has Purple kush clones, but I have heard they are $25 each!! what a rip!! I highly reccommend Grass Roots @ 1077 post st. SF CA their phone number is 415-346-4338 and business hours are 10am-7pm everyday. They always have at least 4 different strains of clones available, peolple are even helpful on the phone, I went there 2 weeks ago and got purple kush and GDP clones, not to mention Hindu Kush Skunk as well. If you call grass roots on the phone and ask nicely what strains of clones they have they will prolly tell ya'!!! Also if you are traveling in from out of town GET THERE AT 10AM ON THE DOT OR YOU WILL WASTE YOUR TIME!!! They get several hundred in fresh everyday, but everyone there knows this and they sell outta clones by lunch everyday!! Same thing in Oakland, not sure what time they open but they also told me they sell out everyday by noon. Hope this is helpful, Grass Roots is 100% organic and has some fuckin killer buds and hash as well! Had to edit forgot to say clone prices at grass roots at $15 each, no matter if it's purple kush or not, unlike cafe blue sky at $25 ea for purple clones

the club owners are the ones who are taking the real risk, though. interference with federal, and in some cases local authorities, so i think they deserve to go home relatively well paid.
a lot of clubs also have free services like chiropractic, acupuncture, counciling...

on the flipside i do think the prices could come down without the whole system crashing or anything. by buying in huge quantities they're able to sell buds for double if not more than what they paid initially.

that all being said i think my overall top favorite club is either the love shack in the city or bpg in berkeley.

^ I as well have had good luck at the Berkeley Club when I was forced to use a club....The main problem for me is the inconsistency of the cuts and the limited numbers. If ya' aint there suuuper early all you get is the 'leftovers'. Not good for a consistent harvest. No one around here likes a sack full of 'Chinese' buds ie all dif' kinds in one bag.

I cant' grow a bunch of dif' strains outta' one resi' either...where the food is customized by strain and flower time. That said I think the clubs is a good place to find mothers and the latest greatest. Personally I don't need the public exposure either...no matter how 'safe' people seem to feel there

My 'Club' consists of a few tight freinds who keep our killer strains close to vest...nobody gets them unless we die hehe. We def' don't want them commercialized. To tell the truth we're kinda burnt on Irkle, Lavender, Purple Kush and GDP. Been growing all these for the past few years and got most of the clones from the ET' not the clubs. Were now into the Purple Pineapple

As far as the prices these clubs charge..shameful. I see these same prices in Hawaii on the streets lol. 100 buxk eights and 650 dollar oz's...sold to tourists!!! I see how fast the clubs can dump an elbow and damn you have to realize just how much friggen moolah they must be raking in. Funny thing is I see some of these clubs have 'attitude' on top of these joke prices. I see that and puke
