people steal everything on the net. gc example, we got potw, it has happened in the past where someone submits a stolen picture. one time it was even stolen from another gc member. i as a staff member think "gee, ive seen that pic before somewhere..." the concern is valid, but im really not sure how to address the issue of plagiarism on the net. i have seen some of my own pics on other sites. i think the best way to combat that is to watermark the original piece of artwork or whatever. so, its up to the artist really, but if you post something watermark it, maybe i will give an example later on how to do this. or someone can post an example, who knows what i am talking about.

The possibility of plagiarism is simply going to be a reality for anyone who posts their creative works.

Watermarking will help some, not a guarantee though. Too small and it can be edited, too large and it ruins aesthetics.

the risk of theft and plagiarism are valid concerns and safeguards are ultimately the responsibility of the artist
i don't know else to address the issue either

watermarks are one option to prove authenticity for some visual forms as might be sending oneSelf postdated copies or photos to protect evidence of personal copyrights ...historically, writers were advised to send self-addressed manuscripts by registered mail and keep date-stamped envelopes sealed until copyright was protected by publishing rights

i just wanted to suggest that containing an Artsy Fartsy subforum to member-only space might deter random viewings thru 'google images' and such and to offer an atmosphere of more confidential disclosure for those who chose to take the risk and share

all copyrights are yours and the site can't take them; but in small print admits that they cannot protect us against 'google thieves'.

The other concern is security. Whereas a pic of a grow has few clues to the identity of the grower, thier art is sometimes a recognisable link to them. Googling the title of a piece or description of a picture, could get someone into an artist's 'real life'.

I use an avatar, false name and address in Writer's World for this reason.

The biggest reasons for having it public are to share with more people, showcase stoner creativity to the world and provide a place where all people can express themselves.

I have no objection to changing 'Poet's Corner' to 'Poet's and Artist's Corner'; easy enough to put a box of hooks at the door for stoners to hang thier pictures with. Be nice to have some colour on the walls.

Let the creative types prove they can run a thread, before you give them a forum? lol nigel
