Plant physiology and response

As a budding :-D Botany major, I think a more technical forum would be nice for those who wish to delve into the more scientific world of plant response. While there isn't as much research into our favorite plant as we all wish there was, general plant form and function would be great as well. I realize that some topics could get pretty intense, but it would be for those who wish to understand their plants a little more. Who knows, someone could be entranced enough by it to seek a higher ed degree in Botany.

The problem with that would probably be traffic. Topics like that might be too far over most of our heads (I know it’s over mine ) so dedicating an entire forum to just a few people wouldn’t be too much good to the rest of us. And we kinda of have an area like that in the “Theory’s” forum.



But, if you have enough people to make it an active forum maybe we can take another look at it.

Yes, some topics would be over the heads of most but for those that maybe just wish to learn a little more about how plants function and how they are structured may benefit. But perhaps some would benefit by knowing how certain additives stimulate the additional production of specific proteins. We don't need to go into the biochemistry behind it (but that would be cool)

We can always start at the basics and work up, just like school How many poeple know what the chemical structure of chlorophyll is? How many people know what the phloem and xylem are and their functions? Several of the more advanced topics (ie auxins and other hormones, cation exchange in root hairs...) are mentioned in some threads and a brief explanation is given, but I want to know everything! The topics don't have to be hard, just interesting for those who want a tiny bit more info and are willing to take the time to learn it.

I personally think the current theories forum is adequate for the level of discussion you are proposing Mendrel but I do understand and recognise what you are saying in regards to advancement and discussion on a more technical level. As a starter why don't you begin the discussion in the theories forum and if there is sufficient responses and discussion as a result we could look at something in the future to accomodate it should the need arise.
