Topic of the week forum!

I did a search and couldn't find any threads concerning this. But I think that a topic of the week forum would be very helpfull and good at information gathering. Each week or month we could have a certain topic concerning growing that we could have a group disscussion about. The forum could have maybee a limit on it for people with 100 posts, similar to the Tiki.

The advantages of the forum would be Grand. We could get more indepth on certain topics that are cloudy. The only problem is that this forum would probbobly have to be heavly moderated to make sure that the forum/mini forum is on topic.

Anywho thoughts? Ideas?

I think its a good idea.
Sometimes I log on just to kill some time and this would create a great focus for me.

I'm not sure a forum is needed to make this type of thread possible.

Why not simply create this thread, with a topic, and change it weekly, like the picture of the week?

I personally don't think it's fair to keep out the newbs since they would benefit too from the information.

Even if they don't have the experience to offer much input, I find that they come up with some good questions.

The reason I just don't make a thread, is because it should be moderated highly and stay ON topic, like pic of the week. And about the newbees, this is so it will stay on topic, 100 post or 1 month isn't that bad, and when your a newbee, just digesting the grow guide and other threads is already alot of info overload.

Perhaps, a heavily moderated sticky,changed weekly always at the top of the new post section? I think the idea is cool obviously. I also agree with milagro and feel it should be able to be read by newbies.

P.S. Hey I don't consider myself a newbie anymore lol at least with the posting part.

I love the idea. A new weekly topic forum. I also think newbies shouldnt be allowed. My reason for that is they are new how much good info can they add. It will be there when the experience come's, after 100 posts or 1 month.

Hmm...

Maybe there's something I'm missing about this idea, because I don't see how this would allow us to get "more indepth" on topics, simply because we "change" topics every week?

Wouldn't the best way to go indepth into a topic be to simply make a thread on that topic? (moderation would be a given, of course)

I guess I'm just not seeing what we would gain... creating topics to discuss in a thread... aren't we doing this all the time? Don't these threads do the trick?

It would help. For a week we can discus one topic or theam. Thats a long time to get everyone's info and/or opinion. Then clean up the thread and or threads and add to library?? maybe try it for everyone, even newbies, for a short while and if its not popular then can it.
