Birthday Thread/Area

seeing as there is a very large use of the Tiki Lounge for birthdays, I was thinking that maybe we should have an area or thread for just birthdays?

what do you think people?

I say just merge the last few together and let it continue as 'the' birthday thread. That would keep the place tidy.

NoneOYurs, I obviously liked the idea of the "birthday thread area", and that's why I suggested you make a thread about it here!

As far as creating a Tiki Lounge sub-forum versus a gigantic birthday thread, I only see downsides for the thread idea. For one thing, I think the main purpose of a Happy Birthday thread is to send a message to the one who's having the birthday, and I fear that a megathread would be the least noticeable way to do this.

Also, it would be nice to be able to easily find a particular member's "birthday thread" to bump on their anniversary, and since most members are allergic to the search feature, this would provide them with a easy to navigate sub-forum to find such a thread!

As far as tidyness is concerned, I think that would be the main advantage of the sub-forum. Organization is the best weapon against messiness IMHO, and I fear that a 1000+ post thread would be less organized, and would be more work for the mods. (That last one's just a guess, but I'm thinking it takes more work to merge threads than to move threads? )

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just don't see any benefits to the thread...

I definately respect that you like the thread idea better... but could you elaborate on the idea any?

like JJ said it would be too confusing how many pages of b-days would there be too many it would be off topic and eratic with messages! there's is the mod thing but hell how many b-day thread/posts will there be a day. I sue some other forum and the sub could be dule moderated.

Agreed.

I would imagine the "Tiki Lounge" could be an appropriate option.

I just think having all the bday celebs in one thread would be easier to manage than a sub-forum. Either way would still be saving space but having only one birthday thread would keep the Tiki more organized

Regardless of whether we have a sub-forum or one thread, there will still have to be equal amounts of moderation. The same amount of info will be posted except only one thread would needed to be watched instead of many. Lets have one birthday thread
