lensman is beginning to sprout.

is this PH, overfert or overwatering?

430W, 85-92 deg .. i flushed the soil, yellowish brown is what came out the bottom .. getting a PH meter in a few days

light is 1.5' above the plants

sprouted on the 29th july; used flouros for 1 week

1/4 strength miricalgrow quick start 4-12-4 was used to initially wet the potting soil/vermiculite mix

lensman is beginning to sprout.

what made me think it was something that needed leaching was yellowish tiny crystals forming on bits of vermiculite on the surface .. i scraped off the top inch of soil and leached it, the yellow areas on the lower leaf tured partially back to green .. [thats the leaf with the brown bits on the tips] that was last week .. the new leaves came in with the yellow sections you see ..

todays set of leaves also appear to be a bit yellower than my other plant and Just the Edges are turning up.

the soil doesn't seem to dry out, the only watering i've done is the 2 leachings, and i remove all standing water from the bottom of my pots

getting a PH meter today =)

- pics of todays results at 5 or 6 ET USA
==========================================
PH is Now ~6.8-7 .... in the pots i havn't leeched[and the plants look good] PH is around 6
pics in 2 hours =)

the PH of the top inch of soil i scraped off has a PH of 5.5-6 [i kept it in a seperate container for when i got the meter..]

The pH is always good to know ... Looks like a slight overfert upon first look ... but are you letting the soil dryout before watering again?

Check the bottom of the container and be sure it is not staying sogging; if it is soggy stop watering and let it dry out ... If it is soggy and stinky (smells like swampm water) then you will need to transplant and go easy on the watering in the future.

The toughest thing about yellowing plants are that just about EVERYTHING causes a plant to yellow. So you must look at all the variables and figure out what is not right.

The pH is still ok .. I thought it would be but just needed to make sure

What soil type are they planted in? Just plain or the ferted MG stuff?

I think you may have had a build up in the soil which is why the top layer you removed had a low pH. And causing gradual overferting.

Why won't your soil dry out? That is only a problem if it is staying moist or soggy which will smother the roots

peters potting soil with vermiculite mixed in ... and its not thatits Wet, it just stays very moist - not mud at all ..

the build up is i think cased by using 1/4 strength MG quick start to initialy wet the soil, and the stuff really got sucked into the Vm ..

also, i think this is one of those super sensitive plants like you have LB.. its much shorter bushyer than the other 2 plants i have .. [its from a different, better bag than the others =) ]

and good news today, it apears the yellow spots are filling in a bit on the older leaves, so i think flushing the second time was enough, and i don't plan on fering this one till its bigger / more stable . and then just some BM tea ... something mild ..

also, weirdness .. after sitting overnight wet, that stuff i scraped off is back to normal ph hmmm...

well, it seems to be recovering nicely, a new set of leaves every 30 hours =)

thanks for the comments LB!

ahhh... new update .. the continued yellow leaves poping out new was an UNDERFERT!! [thankto someone somewhere talkin about Ndeficiency]

dumped some fish $hit on it and the thing perked right up. leaves are that nice greenish blue now ..

turns out i guess i washed out all the fert too well when i flushed out the overfert situation so got lost when the leaves stayed yellow green [tip: the tips didn't brown any more!] fert picked em right up in 30 hours.. gettin beter all the time =)

-later all..

Try adding some Mg by putting ¼ tsp Epsom salts in the next gallon. She looks good.

Keep up the good work.

Smiles.
