![]() | Hi... I am about 5 days into germination. I've been reading lots of posts on here, and it seems that fish emulsion seems to be a good bet for fert time. But I read the ratios, and there is significantly more urea N than other N. I read somewhere in these posts that you should stay away from higher counts of urea when feeding the girls. Will I be doing good for them if I use fish emulsion for the entire growth? thanks

![]() ![]() ![]() | By law, fish emulsion can have up to 1% synthetic ingredients added, usually to extend or enhance shelf life. Straight fish emulsion contains no urea, which is synthetic. What you have is called "ammended fish emulsion", and is a different product. What is the % urea as per the label? If it is very low you might still get by with it.. It's not the kiss of death, but some folks claim the taste of urea never leaves the weed. Fish emulsion is a great food for vegetative growth.... but I like to use other products also to ensure a well rounded diet.

![]() | If you are using a good preferted potting soil now and after your transplant, you shouldn't have to worry about fertilizer for weeks. Some kelp extract at 1/4 strength would be beneficial for the first feeding. Good growth hormones. Many people like Superthrive as well.

hi, the urea% is 1.00, while the other two N%'s are at .50 %and .75% I'm a type who doesn't like chem's at all, and would prefer to stay organic. I've noticed that organically grown veggies have a much more pure taste, and would like that for my girls too. Would you care to elaborate on your fert system for a well rounded diet? thanks for replies, all

![]() ![]() ![]() | What I use will depend on the plant and how it looks.... I'm in a very warm climate and like sativas, and they don't like much in the way of food. But *in general* I do a first feeding at 4 weeks of very dilute fish emulsion- just maybe a half a teaspoon to a gallon. After this they get moved into larger pots with a better soil than I germinate in (I germ and raise seedlings indoors, and some soil ammendments draw bugs) and moved to spend most of the day outside. After that I play it by ear........ I've already put earthworm castings and good composted manure into the potting mix, so they are pretty much set. In addition to periodical fish emulsion as they ask, I'll use liquid seaweed extracts, kelp, soil conditioners (mycorrhizae, other bacteria), alfalfa meal, bone meal, blood meal tea, etc. all when the time is right. I was an ornamental gardener long before I realized (doh!) that I could grow weed also, and I'm out there nearly every day throwing some substance or other around, and I hit the marijuana garden with whatever I'm in that day. I'm a real play it by ear gardener...... like making soup, lilbuddie says.... a little of this, a little of that. But no chemicals.. well hardly ever. No absolutes in life you know!
