organic outdoor supplement question

i read on another post, cant remember when or where.( possible short term memory impairment?)that you should dig a two foot hole and add a cup of dried blood a cup of bone meal and a cup of kelp meal to the hole before transplanting . this seems excessive to me. i have read about teaspoons per gallon of soil, would this have been incorrect info or would this be the amount needed to sustain the plant for the growing season thru harvest as was suggested by the post i had read. or would there be any harmful effect, such as killing the plants?

that would be over kill in a pot but not in the ground .... by the time the plant is big enuff to get down that far the nutes will be broken down and HIGHLY usable to the plant you can some other stuff too if you want .. like earthworm castings, or greensand something else
