thanx for the info p/m one more question,i know perlite is very cheep,but the funds i do have i need for extra lighting,so i was wondering if you can sterilize perlite.becuase i have sum in a soil mix in my yard,but im pretty positive the soil was used before,and i dont want any deseases to be cared from the dirt to perlite to my soil,so can i put it in hot a** water to steralize it or is there no need to?

perlite is less than 5 bucks hon...

I honestly have never heard of anyone trying to pick out the perlite of used soil and sterilizing it to use again *LOL* Sorry, not laughing AT you it's just a funny visual is all...
I wouldn't do it......if funds were tight and it was something I really needed (which it is) than I'd start saving those beer cans or taking the pennies from every "Have a penny leave a penny. Need a penny take a penny" cups at the register of nearly every convience store in town *LOL*
