Hey- I completely mistitled this thread and dont know how to retitle it, I was actually wondering if I need Im currently using fox farms organic soil. I was told that it is extremely nutrient rich and requires no nutrient ammendments. I was planning on adding some bone meal 4 weeks prior to flower. Is this unnecesary? ![]() | ocean forest is a good soil, i used to use it when i grew in soil, but it doesn't have all the nutrients your plant can use during it's grow. I grew my first time without ever adding nutrients because I heard the same thing, and the plants finished but they were small. I learned it's best to start adding nutrients about two weeks into veg for the best results..

![]() ![]() | Hey Xenon- Ocean Forest is a great soil, and the nutrients can last through the vegetative cycle of your plant's life, but only if transplanted frequently enough. Its a good idea to have some fast acting organic nutrients on hand if the girls ask for it. I like bat guanos for N or P, but it depends on your politics and availability. Fish emulsion and kelp are classics too (5-1-1, and high K respectively). Since you need different ratios for flowering, and OF is loaded for vegetative growth, there is no way to avoid adding something in that phase of growth and still get great results. I'd prefer something faster acting than bone meal myself, because I'm impatient and a poor planner. If you're going to use it however, you'd need to be adding it well before flower so it'd stand a chance of becoming available. You'll also need an additional source of potassium. Might think about some high P guano and more of that kelp here(try Technaflora's for high K). All in all, One can make a better organic mix than Ocean Forest, but that takes time, ambition, and a little knowledge....none of which I posess in abundance. As sold, its a fine veg soil (well...maybe a little perlite), but you'd be very right to add your bone meal early to plan for flowering. I hope that may have helped, and if not, there are smarter people than me around here. ![]()
