Alabama is beginning to sprout.
Going to be gone for 10 days

Maybe y'all (been in the South too long!) can help with this lil' problem. I've gotta go to a conference in California that will take me away from my grow for 10 days. I don't share the location with ANYONE, so what am I to do for watering during this time? It's the hottest time of year, and if I'm unlucky and there's no rain during that time, my girls are going to be looking pretty wilted by the time I get back. Right now all I can think of is to saturate them with water and give them a normal weekly dose of ferts just before I go, do it again when I return, and pray for rain. Anyone have a good simple idea (short of a complex drip system or something) that has worked on your grows in the past? Do you think a really good watering just before I leave and then again when I return will do the job?

Thanks.

what kind of soil you got eh? (been in the north too long) id just water the hell out of them and water along side them too. i bet a really good watering(to the point where theyre drooping) would do the trick. if you dont want to go that far and save work, you could go with a simple hole in a few five gal. buckets right next to plants. cover themup a litttle maybe. or them black plastic garbage bags. fill themup andpoke a couple holes in them and secure them good enough. thatd be more hidden, less work maybe, and you could use a whole bunch of em. on the down side it might not work for sure. ive never tried it, but thats probably what id end up doing.

good luck!

Oh my bucket's got a hole in it...

Yeah, some version of the bucket idea might do the job. Thanks. The soil is good top soil that I lugged (oof) to the site and filled the holes I had previously dug (oof) in the rocky/clay substrate.

A small small small hole that drips very slowly would do the trick. By the time it ran out in 3-4 days along with a good saturation before you leave, it should be good when you get back...

I was gone for 10 days also....but what I did was water really good the day I left....then I checked the weather. And rain was in the forecast so I didnt have to worry much..when I got back some of my plants had grown a complete foot...it was marvelously lucky I guess. But I don't usually visit my plants but once a week.
