redbud68 is beginning to sprout.

Veto, I got 4 females now. Well... one of them could be a hermie but there is some female flowering starting. I am starting to get allot of bugs being on my plants... there not eating to much of the leafs really, so I havent tryed to kill them yet. If I don't do nothing to them do you think it will affect my plants yield / potiency?

Hey Redbud - perhaps the bugs are meaner there, but over here (west of you a couple hundred miles I would guess) I never have any bug problems (knock on wood) - but I have lots of bugs on my plants - they don't eat much, like occasionally I find a munched-upon fan leaf or a rolled up leaf with a larva of some creature in it, but absolutely no significant damage - never. And they have never bothered the buds at all even those tender little shoots seem like something bugs would like - maybe the plants purpose for THC is as a bug repellant! I see grasshoppers, pretty beetles, ants, things that look like light colored versions of Darth Vader fighters, spiders, and other critters with exoskeletons - they all seem to dig my plants for hanging out on but not for eating - so I never poison or soap solution spray or any of that stuff. Now I'm not as confident about saying you won't have bug probs in NC - I've read that some growers are really bothered by bugs, but my philosophy is that if they aren't obviously attacking your grow, leave them alone. But those are your babies and only you can decide if they represent a real threat and need retaliatory action... Grow on...

Yea everything is so dry here it is horrible. I think its up to a 40% chance tomorrow. I know everyone was talking about bugs, and they have been a pest from the beginning, but now they arent hurting the plants like they were when it was younger. I'd really love for it to be october. It'd be nice to start harvest now wouldnt it fellas? Im wondering if any of you have finished outdoor grows, and im curious about yield on certain height plants and what not. The best estimate I think I have come around is 6-10 ounces per outdoor plants. But in a marijuana growing guide, there are plants that yielded up to 7 pounds, so I'd say it depends alot on size and growing conditions. Im just curious, if anyone can give a educated rough estimate.

Well now, that was SOME rain yesterday - sorry it didn't make it over to the Carolinas guys. It also had 30 knots of wind in it and several of my plants got whooped on and are now listing to 45 degrees - time to stake and put in a serious support system. I'm also going to use FarmerJay's idea about weighting the crowded branches to open up the bushier plants. But for now I have to catch a plane for San Diego for a conference and a visit to my baby boy (21, 6'4''). See y'all in a week.

It looks like I'm going to be getting some rain sometime today.. I would like to know more about avg. yield people get off outdoor plants... because this is my first full outdoor grow.. I have had some viggies but this year is the first time I have had females.. I got 4 females right now... 1 of them is a 3ft high indica/something and it has more buds on it than all of my 3 other plants combined.. and its only 1 week ahead of the 2 others.. and 1 is just starting to flower. I have herd that most people get 1-3oz's from there plants.. and I herd its best to hope for SOME bud instead of hoping for allot... well I have 4 females and I was wanting to know moreless what I should expect.. my 3ft indica has about 10 grams (thats a guess from looking at it) of bud already on it...

I was thinking of cutting off a branch next week for a sample bud.. would this be a bad idea? Next week it would be in its 5th week of flowering.

Hey Redbud - dried and manicured, conservatively expect no more than 1/2 pound from a well-branched, healthy 9' sativa or 5' bushy, well-branched indica. The amount goes down or up with size - and if you get lucky it can be significantly more. Indicas usually mature before sativas, by the way, and that's why your fatleaf is nlooking so good. So do mine - they be callin' to me everytime I go by... "Hey, look at me, aren't I pretty... you want to touch me, you want to taste me..." (Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality). Ooooh the temptation of early tasting - we all do it I suspect, but then think about that lil' premmie bud - a few grams versus the 1/2 ounce or more it will grow up to be... temptation's gonna gitcha!

Well the buds are about 1inch each... but you gotta figure 4 or 5 buds per branch... I got almost a half oz of small buds already on all my plants combined. At the size of the buds of mine.. if I just cut off a joints worth, do you think would it even get me high? the seeds are just from good commerical bagseed. I just want to know because I dont want to cut some small colas and them not even have developed THC.

Does it take longer for outdoor plants to mature than indoor plants? Because I was looking at some peoples grows and they looked allot more developed than mine at the same age.

Hey man, I think a big difference...is that indoors they control 12/12 from day 1 of flowering. Outdoors its much more steady and slower. Like where you might have been able to tell it was a female 5 weeks ago. here in NC we still havent even hit 13 hours of daylight. So its a slower process outdoors. Sorta like they preflower forever. We got a very good shower today. But it isnt the kind of rain we needed, we need lots and lots, we are severely dry around here. But I know it helped the ladies tremendously....tomorrow morning im going to check for more males. I wonder how they are going to look....ahh they sure will be beautiful I bet. How colorful are your buds redbud? Or are they just white...pistals coming out. I'd really hold out on some sample buds.....just imagine what you could be wasting. Patience. Think how long you have been at it alread, nows not the time to do a half ass'ed job. eh?

redbud68 is beginning to sprout.

yea true dat veto... I have had them planted since March... I guess I could wait another month or so... As for my bud well there mostly just white hairs on them but some of them are starting to turn a redish-orange... On my sativa allot of the stems that go to the fan leafs have allot of purple in them. Last night I had a dream that my plants were in full bloom and I went down there I thought I was going to **** in my pants from all the bud I thought was on there... and this morning I was about to walk down there and make sure it was a dream, cause it was one of them were its hard to tell and you get pissed off when you realize that it didnt happen.

I got a question for you people...

I read in some very old book about growing marijuana that on the last 2 weeks before harvest that if you dont water the plant at all, more THC will move to the buds and leafs... the way this happens is the resin in a cannabis plant is there for when the plant goes without water... so when its very dry the resin moves from the roots to the buds and leafs so the plant don't dry up that quick..

So my question is do any of you go w/o watering for 2 weeks before harvest? Does this really work? If so does it make a big difference in the potiency?

Aight guys, peace

Ya know what redbud, ive noticed that too, being that my plants are at most half hybrids, to almost full sativas. Most of the stems are purple, and the plants are doing really really good. I went and saw them today, and the access road I usually took there had a metal chain creating a gate. It sucks, because I can no longer access it with my car, I'd have to have a 4x4 to get back in there. So I walked, man was I happy I did, they are really really budding now. White hairs everywhere, on my biggest plant a lower branch, looks to be about 3 times as done, as all the plants....and maybe halfway through flowering. Im excited, because they are all budding like crazy, ive got 11 females for sure. 1 maybe male, and then like 3 I can't exactly tell on yet. They are flowering hardcore, I was looking at my biggest female, and thought that I saw a small pod, but it was a seed from another plant that is indigenous to the area, so it just brushed off thank god. If she were a hermie, I'd be very displeased. shes about 9 ft with 4 maine colas at the 9 ft mark. She sure is a beauty.

Alabama, you said your sativa was bigmama? Thats what we call my grandma. My big sativa is named after my girlfriend, since the beginning. G'thing it was a female eh?

Redbud, smart thing having patience, im sure it will pay off in the end and you will be extremely excited. Im hoping we all one day realize the dream you had last night, and get to visit our girls, when they are almost completed flowering. AND HARVEST!!! YUMMM!

Also, about water deprivation, ive heard that some have experimented saying it increased potency, but no real scientific studys. So, I'd like to hear everyones thoughts. But heck, if it works...I might try it. Might try it on one regardlss...with 11 there is room for experimentation. eh?
