Here in Missouri we have plenty of bluffs that were made by the highway workers blasting through the hills to make roads and highways. I have been keeping a keen eye out for such places and have noticed that alot of times there is nothing on the top of these bluffs. Most of the time once you are on top of the bluff and look the opposite direction of the highway it will head right back down to a valley. Also a plus that I have noticed is that there are often mass amount of cedar trees on these bluffs. Some (bluffs) are as high as 50 feet. Has anyone used these spots to grow? Just by imagining the sunlight the plant would get and the fact that I doubt anyone would go Bluff to Bluff plus it would be tuff for deer to get up there this seems like a logical place. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Pro and Cons please. Got some White Widows seeds that I can't grow in the house.

i really wouldn't suggest growing on a bluff....someone apparently knows it's there, or it wouldn't be there...go find somewhere else....go down the bluff or whatever, just not right on top of it...find a spot downhill from it or something

Ok. I had another idea. How about the massive clearings that were made long ago from the telephone lines and poles that were put in. It seems that these are paths that go miles and miles through the woods often times with nothing in site except for rolling hills.

you don't want your plants anywhere where a person could stumble upon them.....you don't want them in the woods, but try to find a feild or something that doesn't have a path into it, something with not a lot of access to....find clearings overhead in the woods...

Well I was looking for an area that would give me fairly easy access. I don't want to plant in a field but planned on planting on the edge of the woods so it will get plenty of light. If I train the plants or top them so they only reach maybe 2 feet tall at the max then I thought it might be cool. The grass that grows in these telephone pole paths grow up to about 3 feet. It is really thick sh*t. Man I wish my wife was cool !!!!

I thought if I planted about 5 clones per valley peak or there abouts I could get a pretty good crop.

As far as the soil I was going to prep the areas with some good soil and ferts. The cedar tree thing is....well I think I heard that cedars give off the same whatever just like MJ. Either that or it is less noticeable because they stay green all year or something. Heck I don't know.

IYO how do the railroad tracks sound. I know a lot of people walk the tracks but who looks for weed. Maybe a mile down from the closest access point.

Looks like you are right S2. The soil for Cedar is not good at all. I do have access to 40 acres but it's my FIL's and we don't get along. That would be too suspicious me going down every few weeks to check my medicine. Too bad he knows what weed looks like. I would tell him to water my plants with him thinking it is a late flowering fruitplant. Yeah Pops...let me know what color they are in September and I will help ya harvest. Ha Ha Ha....

I might sneak some in down there. It has a creek running through it. Plus he grows HUGE Tomatoes and other stuff.

First off welocome to the boards!!

Growing outdoors in the midwest is difficult at best with the wild hemp that grows everywhere! It's a left over from the large industrial hemp farms from the 30's and 40's. The wild hemp is useless for smoking but will sure pollinate and ruin good genetics. The LEO's have a hay day when they find these large fields of wild hemp, which is worthless, but justifies the politics of the war on drugs! Not trying to discourge you just the facts. I've tried outdoors and this is the result every time.

Man I have been through many woods and never found wild stuff. Of course I was never looking either. I never thought of the pollination that could happen. That is a good point. Of course LEO can look for fields of hemp all they want. I rely and swear by the concept of not many people look at the obvious. As a former petty thug I had never been caught or suspected of wrong doing. I just act like I SHOULD be there or I own the place attitude. I was wanting to incorporate this style to gardening. A few plants here and there that are right in front of peoples noses but they never notice. Easy access with a reason for being there.

Oh yeah, my Great Grandma told me that back in the day like in the 20's she grew and smoked weed. The whole family did and it was normal for people to get together after being out in the fields all day to smoke and drink. Hell, my Grandpa has been known to toke and he is 76. I don't know what the hell happened to my dad. Good thing I am keeping up the good family name.
