MrDizzysticks is beginning to sprout.

After recently paying $25 for half an 8th and being without a steady supplier, I have decided to start growin my own. There are a couple questions I need to have answered before I start.

The first question has to do with my location. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any privately owned locations around where I live that I could grow. Undoubtedly, I will scout around the county when I get back from school. My question is this, are the penalties for growing marijuana in a county park increased? Also, if any of you have any tips about avoiding park rangers and such, it would be greatly appreciated.
My second question is about plant variety. I live in Northern Indiana and was wondering what variety of plant would be best suited to natural outdoor growing in this climate. If all else fails, I have a friend who keeps seeds, so I can get them for free.

My third question relates to care. I plan to plant about 5 plants and will probably put up chicken wire around them. This will undoubtedly be the hardest part about growing in a park. That is, getting the chicken wire in without being spotted. Will the chicken wire be enough to protect them from animals and such?

My fourth question relates to care also. I plan to let them grow by themselves and pretty much let them go, but is there anything I need to do? Visit them biweekly to trim or anything like that?

My fifth question is about seedlings. How long should I grow them or at what height should they be before I plant them?

Thanks for any help.

dizzy-
the chicken wire is probably not the best method to use in your situation. Panama recently posted a forum titled: Deer, Rodents and Insects. This will give you some less suspicious ways to prevent pests. Weeds are so amazing. They tend to adapt to wherever they are. Therefore, I don't think it matters too much what type of marijuana plant you use but if you really are interested you might find a strain at http://www.hempqc.com

Exclamation wood not plant in park!

i dont like the idea of growing in a park.and definitely wouldn't use chicken wire there.if possible find a rural area that is not very populated then youd be much safer.rangers will bust your a** whenever possible, and cultivation carries hefty penalties here in the states.i usually wait til plants are about 4-5in.or on about the 3-4node to ensure that transplant will not do as much damage, just make sure they dont die of thirst and you should be fine.so be careful and happy growin,Md

After reading Ganja Warriors posts on other threads and realizing the effects I could be having on the parks, I have decided against growing on Park lands. I will, instead, try my best to find some spots to grow around where I live. Off hand I can't think of any, but I live close to the boonies, so I shouldn't have too much trouble if I just drive around for a while. My new plan is to not grow the seedlings, and just plant seeds in about 10 plots in different places. I will be using GPS thanks to my smokin buddy so location isn't a problem. I will also be growing in two different counties. Some here at college and some back at home. The crop here should be ready right after I get back to college if we plant it before we leave. I'll probably plant back at home around spring break and those should be ready before I go back to school. If not, we can always do a weekend collection unbeknownst to my rents. I wish I could tell my parents, because my dad is an avid gardener, and I'm sure he would be great at growin ganja. Who knows, they've tolerated my underage drinking so far. Thanks for all the help! Oh, one more thing. I think the only thing I will do is put up the fishing line to keep the deer out. We have a lot of deer in IN. My main goal in all of this is to just to have my own supply of personal use bud for me and my close friends.

Exclamation I may have a CRAZy idea

would this work

the idea is to piss THATS RIGHT i said piss all around the grow area. i mean every where. drink lots of water before hand. this may sound gross but is very effective. dogs and cats too wont enter the area either....

try it and tell me if it works.

deer are smart and ou will have to put up alot of string if you do o the string method try the pissing to what what happens.

Thanks

smokinrav is growing every day.smokinrav is growing every day.

Along train tracks is the classic way to outdoor grow in the plains states. RRs have an easment that extends many feet beyond the tracks, and the trackmen usually wont stray more than a few feet away from the tracks when maintaining or weeding(I used to be one). Also, You got tons of rivers there, if you can find one wide enough to have a island in the middle, and plant there, you have a natural barrier against pests and people.

Thumbs up care of the plants

Some things to think about regarding care of the plants...

As long as there is enough rainfall, you shouldn't have to worry about watering, otherwise you would either have to go water, or set up some type of irrigation system.

I would also recommend topping the plants at least once during the vegative cycle. This way they do not have the classic 'christmas tree' look, and you will get more shoots that will turn into buds. Besides if let to grow without topping, they could easily exceed 10ft!

Also, think about how the other native plants will look in the fall, you don't want the pot plants to be the only thing left that is green. They stick out like sore thumbs!

I like to plant next to small evergreen trees or other bushy plants that maintain their leaves and colors well into fall.

In regards to peeing around the plants, this might work, depending on how much exposure the deer have had to humans. I've heard of some growers, getting large cat (lions) dung from zoos and spreading that around, or using blood meal to scare away deer.

Just my 2cents on the matter.

Lightbulb Meat Eaters

Humans are predators, therefore the scent of their urine will deter deer and other animals.

Cool

I am planning a similar operation on a bird sanctuary. They have sprinkers on timers for irrigation.

Post Mississippi

Well,
Here in Mississippi we have a lot of deers, and it was a big prob. I would always find fresh deer tracks around my planting area soon after I planted and they started growing.

The effect of the urine all depends on the area you live in, if the deer are use to humans than they have no fear of them. Hre down in the boonies and sticks, we kill them and eat them. So, they tend to run when they smell the first sign of humans.

Like I said before I found fresh deer tracks soon after i started planting. If human urine doesn't work, than why is it that once I started "urinating" (why the big words, doesnt make yuo sound any smarter) around my plants, the deer suddenly stopped coming around?
