![]() | Well are you a Yooper or a troll (hehe anyone who hasn't lived in Michigan is wondering what the hell that means). I grew in Marquette MI for roughly 10 years and it took awhile to get used too. Although some years when the frost and snow where stubborn I didn't put my plants in until June 1st I usually managed to get them in the ground during the middle of May. The hard thing with Northern Michigan is the growing season is very short and the days in Summer are very long, thus limiting the strains that can be flowered in the area. try to find a strain that will tolerate a few early September frost so it can finish budding. In falls when the frost didn't hit early mold seemed to be a problem. Most years around the 1st week of September it would cool off and get foggy and rainy. This will cause bud rot in many strains and may force you to pull your crop early. All that said with practice good nugs can be grown outdoors there.

![]() | I'm from South Michigan too around Lansing. I've never grown before and I want to know when I should plant my seeds. Is it alright if I just take them from some weed I have or do I have to order special ones? When I plant them should i just scatter them around like grass seeds or what? And do you know if they would grow in a wet soil marsh type environment? thanks a lot

First off before someone else tells says so I will. If you put in the time to read the grow guide on this site it would help you so, so much! It's packed with helpful hints and tricks of the trade. And no you don’t just scatter them like grass seeds, germinating - grow guide... About Michigan: Like levijones said, mid May is just about the time. You can check an almanac and you will see mid May is usually just about when the crappy rainy windy Buddha hating weather stops :-) Read that grow guide and you will be straight! Good Growing, - rage

![]() | Gostate37 you asked if how cannabis grows in a marshy environment . First of all marshes are indeed a great place to hide marijuana as few people wade through water and mud just for the hell of it. I used to grow in a marsh off of lake Superior that you had to kayak too and than wade through a cold marsh with a wet suit. I never once feared that it would be found (of course getting good soil and other supplies there was a oain in the ass). Secondly, although marshes are a good place to hide marijuana it is not a suitable growing substrate. Marijuana will not tolerate being flooded for very long and it will drop its fan leaves and die if its sitting in stagnant water. I always looked for a high spot in the marsh and brought in several bales of soil and other growing substrate to build an effective island. I've also had success growing in large cantainers in marshy areas.
