I thought i'd add my two cents.
Here's an easy way to find a nice place to grow in the woods. If you have a large, well trained dog just take him/her for a walk in the woods. Don't put a leash on him. He'll find place that you wouldn't think of going. Chances are it'll be a place you'll have to crawl too and most people hiking in the woods wouldn't want to do that. If you don't have a dog just go down every animal trail that is below your waist and stays at that height for a while. If it connects to another trail that you can stand in i wouldn't plant around there.

Now to deter people. Everyone hates bees rights. To the entrance to the trail or where ever plant some catnip and/or some clover. These two plants attract bumble bees whihc look and sound mean but are realativly harmless. Also you can make a bumble be home and places it near the netrance or in the ground. when people go near it the bees will buzz and scare them away. Also MOST bumble bees only have a colony of about 25 bees. You can get alot of catnip seeds for a great prize at http://www.johnnyseeds.com And type of throny plant works great.
