![]() | I have 3 plants in 10th week of growing under 8 2' mv flourescent bulbs - four cool glow and four plants bulbs that I picked up from Home Depot. One of the plants is starting to turn yellow. The bottom leaves are turning yellow first. The yellowing started at the tips of the leaves (i think), and the veins are also yellow. It looks like a nitrogen deficiency, but this is my first grow, so i don't really know. | ||

| Okay...you said the magic word Miracle Grow...yank the spikes... Miracle grow Plant Food is actually the WORST thing you can feed you MJ plant. Also MJ does not require as much ferting as new farmers think. Just lots and lots of sun. SOunds from the descrition then that it isn't rootbound, but that youa re getting some fert burn (toxic build up of fertilizer in the leaves) Put each plant in the sink, individually...and give it a good soak down with clear cool (not cold) water till the water drips thru the holes in the bottom...let the plant drain in the sink for a few minutes (so you don't leave a trail of muddy water back to your grow room). Put the plants back undeer your lights and watch them for a few days. You may get somemore creeping of yellow up the leaves but watch for new growth on the tops. If there is an overabumdance of Nitrogen ( and I think there is) you will see the start of lots of baby leaves. Your plants don't need anymore fertilizer until you transplant for the flowering stage. Check out Smokinrav's and DigitalT's grows for an idea of what to expect over the coming months Good Luck Mama Budz * I Toke & I Vote* | ||

i have to say, that Miragle Grow is NOT the worst thing. now allow me to qualify that statement... first, i wouldn't use the spikes, it would seem to be uncontrolled at that point, and you definetely want to use the MG in a very controlled fashion. second, MG makes a product called MirAcid, it has higher iron and N content, i use it rather than regular MG third, i use MG extremely sparingly (like 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommendation on the box) reasons for using MG in my case stem from the fact that i have used it on a large variety of house plants and have for years, with very good results. i would say that its ok to use it as long as you start with a small amount. its good when you want to supply your plants with nutrients which are immediatley available to the plant ( i use organinc additives in my soil, and when i see a deficiency or toxicity, i will try to correct the problem) the MG works very fast, where the dissolution of nutrients from my additives happens slower, this can be the difference between losing a few leaves and alot of leaves alot of people have a problem with MG, and thats healthy i think, because it is very concentrated and can be dangerous, however its very cheap and works fast. if you want to use it i say go ahead, but be careful. now if i may. i would like to give a few tips from my experience with soil... first, there is no substitute for good soil second, use LOTS of perlite third, don't be afraid to put your plant in the shower and soak the living hell out of the soil (i've left plants in my shower for 45 minutes, flooding everything out of the soil!) the qualifier for that statement will serve as my digression into soil pH if your tap water is like mine, its pH is too high, after flooding your plants with the shower you should put a gallon of relatively low pH water through (like around pH 5 works for me), this serves to bring the soil pH to a level where the plant's roots will be able to take whatever they need from the surrounding soil if you fertilize, and leaves turn yellow, then you suspect a toxicity, and you may be right, but then you flood, and leaves keep dying, but now b/c your pH is too high and you're locking out nutes that the roots and plants need sorry this is getting so long, but i have recently gone through all of this with my plants, and they are doing fantastic, also i intend to post this as a new thread on miracle grow also, in my experience, better to under fertilize, than over also, i stop using MG for flowering, there are other cheap powdered ferts (im sure MG makes one) that are better for flowering, however, the farther into flowering you get, the less the girls need hope this helps, and sheds some light on this Miracle Grow dichotomy we seem to be in the middle of when it comes to the internet (ps - whenever reading anything online, i suggest a grain of salt - you can't believe everything, and some people would have you believe that their way is the only way. - pot grows, and it grows well, and all you can really do is optimize its environment, its gonna grow no matter what) cheers

| Well, we are all certainly entitled to your opinion, however, Cannabis does not grow well using Miracle Grow -- that blue crystal plant food everyone has in the house and tries the first time on their plants cause why the heck not and why drive over to Walmart and deal with all that crap when sheesh you've had this box for so long and it's not like it can go bad right? ![]() Well the concensus is that MG kills more MJ plants then anything else can. In fact we really try not to talk about it 'cause it might give the governemnt ideas about effective means of irradication so please don't spread it around ![]() ...Of course, this is all how it just seems to be to me... and you know I smoke pot ![]() ~ have a cookie ![]() Mama Budz * I Toke & I Vote * | ||
