I was looking threw some drawers in my house when I found these things called "Plant Food Spkies"... They are slow resease plant food.It says on the back that they are 13-4-5... I was wondering if this would be good for my plants...

Well, I haven't really used these before but I have read plenty of posts from ppl not advising their use. I would say it might be ok for outdoor plots but not for pot in a pot I wouldn't advise it since you can't really control the release of ferts into the your soil

Those things are horrible, they deliver concentrated amounts of ferts to a few places in the soil, but deliver no ferts to other places. The only time I would use these is if I was going on vacation and couldn't water my plants.

The NPK on those also doesn't look too great either.

Powder mixes work fine for me.

I am growing my plant outdoors but in a 3 gallon pot. Unfortionatly I just put 4 of those things in my pot (although the pacage said 5; I wanted to be safe). SH*T!!! Well I guess it can't be too too bad for the plant... I was using powdered Miricle Grow (The kind you dilute in water) but I thought this might help. Warloc, I see how it would give concentrated amounts in small places. Hymmm... Its not too late to take them out (I put them in about an hour ago) I think I'll go take them out... This sucks, next time I think I'll read the posts before puting stuff in my plant...

I've got to hurry, its 8:00 and the sun has already gone down...

I just got back from my grow site and unfortionatly was unable to remove the plant food sticks. I tryed to pull them out but i guess the moisture of the soil got to them already because they were all mushy and had started to disolve. I rinsed the soil with some water hoping to wash the nutrents through the soil or at least spread it out but I don't think I could becuase on the back of the package they claim "Unlike liquid or powdered fertilizers our plant food sticks don't wash through soil!"... Oh well... I mean, what's the worst that could happen???

Overferting; i used those things before and had the same "results".

Ladies were transplanted and everithing went fine

It not "horrible" in the sense that I would not use them at all. I was just saying that a water soluble(sp) fert will help distribute the ferts more evenly. If you dig up as much as possible, and then be cautious with your powdered ferts, it should be fine.

What about crushing them up and using them in small amounts over time?
