Earth Juice Question

I'm using EJ Bloom right now, plants are about 4 weeks into flowering and almost all of the fan leaves are yellowing pretty bad. I noticed that the EJ Bloom doesn't have any Nitrogen which I've heard is fine for MJ but I'm not sure if fan leaves should be yellowing this early in the game. Is this okay to have leaves yellowing this early and do I need to have some Nitrogen when flowering? I usually use Botanicares Pure Power line which has some N in their bloom formula.

i've never used earth juice before but yeah you should have some nitrogen in flower, especially in early flower. it might be wise to use veg fert the first couple weeks and then switch. maybe u could mix the veg and bloom for a week or two also if there's really no n in the bloom. that's a 3 part with veg, bloom, and micro? well i'm not sure someone who uses ej could probably help you more. i wouldnt really want to go zero nitrogen until the last phase of ferting and then water to finish. how yellow are they? got any pics?

I don't use EJ, but I do use FF and during the transitional period, I use both the grow and bloom to keep my leaves nice and green.

Alright, now you guys have stressed me out, lol. I heard somewhere that herb plants don't need N during the flowering period but I agree that some is good especially during the transition. I'm going to add a bit of Veg nutes next watering, the fan leaves are real yellow and might be beyond repair though, We'll see what happens, I am so stoked about my White Widow and Trainwreck girls, I wanted to have things dialed in this grow, dangit. I'm going back with Botanicares Pure Blend next time. Thanks for the input.

The yellow ones are more than likely are beyond repair. But the green ones will stay green. I had to fight the yellow leaf this last grow and I figured I had it under control when the yellowing stopped advancing.

90% of my fan leaves are completely yellow on my girls. I noticed the plants aren't bulking up as much as they were a week or two ago, I hope it wasn't do to the lack of nitrogen. What do you guys think? The plants look healthy and the buds look good but the bud growth has definitely slowed down. I'm 4 1/2 weeks into flowering so I guess I'll add some N one more time this week and then stop adding it. Anybody have any thoughts on what happens when N is witheld during flowering?

N-P-K are all macronutes so they are used throughout, wherever there is plant growth, those 3 are used, to varying degrees.
Your fan leaves are like cylinders in your automobile, the less of them you have and the smaller they are, the slower the car goes.
big fan leaves are the power plants of the plant, they do the brunt of the photosynthesizing to make all the energy required for the final "uuumph" of flowering.
Like many living organisms, a plant will cannabilize itself if it lacks Nitrogen. This will cause leaves to turn yellow, fall off, and so your plant will have less to draw on, yield and possibly potency decline.
The not needing nitrogen bit you heard is true maybe in the last 3 weeks or so of flowering.
during this time, the plant should be flushed with water, Clearex, other flushing agent, etc to make the plant burn any excess nitrogen it has stored up
Excess nitrogen causes harsh, chlorophyll tasting, head ache causing smoke.
There should still be healthy broad leaves left on the plant when you trim

Jesus, Calico Jack, that was the most clear and helpful explanation I've ever heard. Thanks for helping out, I won't be making this mistake again. Do you think I should continue adding some N for the next couple weeks even though I'm about 5 weeks into flowering of an 8 week strain? I might add N one more time and then stop. Wish my White Widow and Trainwreck girls luck. Peace.

And; next time is what we're all learning to improve for, whether you been in it 20 years or 3 months

your girls are in good hands, all will be well
best of luck

If, and when, they make it through fine, go dancing
