In order to correct the ph, I, (read me, myself, not necessarily recommending this to anyone) have been adjusting the ph of my nute solutions to try to balance out the end ph to 6.5. My soil ph was 7.3 so i adjusted my nute solution ph to 5.8 and fed them for a couple weeks like that. Then when I really started having trouble, i realized i fed them that solution for too long and my runoff was now reading 5.8. So now I fed them a nute solution of 7.2 a couple days ago, right after a good flush. Yesterday, i gave them a lite (800 ppms) nute solution ph'd at 6.8. The next one will be at 6.5 and I will consistantly give them 6.5 form here on out. I am hoping things will balance out. I will never again add stuff to my soil. B4420's method of measuring soil ph is much more accurate then just measuring the runoff. However, if your runoff is measuring that high (or low) the soil is obviously pretty screwed up.
Hey Freak,
How did the waterings of 5.8 work out for you? did it fix the problem, or did you eventually end up trying to change the substrate?
Thansk,
Crazytrain

High Crazy, watering with the ph adjusted solution like I explained worked very well. However, it's a judgement call on how long to do this. If i had to do it again (and I hope I never do) I would feed them once, maybe twice, let them dry out, and flush again and check the runoff, then adjust accordingly. I did end up with 12 ounces from 4 plants - not bad for a grow full of ph problems.
