Mary Jane BushMaster Information Thread

So... I've seen a lot of questions about "BushMaster", a new product in the testing phase put out by "Humboldt County's Own", so I decided I'd put this thread together as a source of information on the product for the users of this forum.

First off a little history... (dramatized, but true)

It started out with a bunch of old hippies chillin in the hills of humboldt smokin di kind bud enjoying life. One gets an ides "hey lets research the old pattent applications for chemicals that effect plants", so they research and find a bunch of stuff with three products in particular that stand out... bushmaster, gravity, and stacker (now called purple maxx)... they give these three products to friends who test the products, the bushmaster they say stops the plants from stretching, gravity makes the buds harder, and purple maxx makes purple genetics express their true colors.

So now were at present day, Humboldt COunty's Own has limited released this three products to the public for testing purposes, since these are experimental chemicals, growers are still not sure the best way to use them or what application rates thus the testing process. Be assured however that these products are completely safe to use on consumable plants. unlike superbud a simmilar product to bushmaster.

In my experience with bushmaster I've observed a complete halt of vegetative growth on plants after treatment, and little to no stretch during flowering. The plants take shorter to flower because the 1-2 week stretch period is cut out, and crops are increased because you can now grow out bigger plants that are vegged for longer and would typically be huge after stretch, in closer quarters and with less head space.

THere are typically two methods to using bushmaster indoors.

1) perpetual harvest: this involves sticking to the same 8 week flowering period.

without bushmaster: flower 8 weeks from clone
with bushmaster: veg 2 weeks flower 6 weeks

2) monster grow (my favorite): this involves vegging for a period of time before flowering.

without bushmaster: veg for 2 weeks, flower 8 weeks
with bushmaster: veg for 4 weeks, flower 6 weeks

both methods will get you increased yields and control over the height and shape of your plants.

Both methods, and with all indoor applications, the bushmaster must be applied as soon as the lights are flipped into flowering, i prefer to apply it the last three days of vegging while the lights are still on 24 hours. Since the whole point of bushmaster is to keep the plants from going through an unproductive, time consuming, and problematic stretch phase... and the stretch phase starts as soon as you flip the lights it would follow to reason the best time to apply bushmaster is BEFORE the plants start to stretch.

EEL river hydroponics is the marketing arm of the company that develops bushmaster here's their homepage:
Eel River Hydroponics

This is from their "About US" section:

Quote:
Eel River Hydroponics, located in central Humboldt County, opened in 2002 and quickly became a major player in the local hydroponics market. One of the owners, The Doc, had a life long interest in organic chemistry as well as extensive experience as a patent searcher so it wasn’t long before he began surveying horticultural journals and patents. He soon realized that virtually none of the discoveries and advances in plant science in the last 25 years had been incorporated into new products so he began a systematic investigation of promising ingredients. After developing 4 products that have been very well received by customers and other local hydro shops, the owners formed Emerald Triangle to do the research and development and bottling of products and handle wholesale distribution while Eel River Hydroponics handles retail sales.

WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT

In order to best serve our clients, our product development efforts focus on a “bottom up” approach rather than the “top down” approach taken by most other manufacturers. That is, we encourage our customers to think of dream products they would like to see on the shelf and then we try to oblige. We formulate lots and lots of experimental samples and hand them out to certain customers for testing. Based on their feedback we zero in on a product of interest and prepare several similar versions such as Gravity 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc. After a couple of months, our beta testers tend to have a preference for 1 particular version which is then offered to the general public as samples. Finally, the real proof that we have a successful product is when customers are no longer content to get a sample but ask if they can buy quarts or gallons. Then we know we have a winner.

By contrast, the “top down” approach usually starts with a couple of PhD consultants formulating a new product that fits the general specifications laid out by a nutrient manufacturer. The product is briefly tested in a greenhouse and then is turned over to marketing spinmeisters who design glossy brochures and ads telling the customer how great the product is.

The difference is that our products are very specifically tailored for our customers. We don’t tell them we have a good product, they tell us! If a product we develop isn’t flying off the shelf at Eel River Hydroponics, then the outside world will never hear about it.

Ha, how funny. I gave up on the search function here long ago, I know you can google inserting "gardenscure" in the term, but, well, I guess it's spite. Googled what I was looking for, took me to a site I never heard of, rollitup, second post in the bushmaster thread had a link to Garenscure-The Bushmaster Thread. Just seemed really funny to me. Well, no outdoor info here, back to the hunt.
