One of the ingredients in my organic mix is a cup of hardwood ash, I probably wouldn't use cig ashes.

well you can get ash from the bbq if you use woodcoals.

the better the coals (no additives)the better.

the whiter the ash, the purer it is.

i never changed the tray on a entire summer and that ash was ranging from grey to the whitest creamiest ash ever.

those were just the cheapest coals i could find, but pure woodcoals, even looked like black wood many of them.

tried some of it mixed with water in my first grow, but had no comparison, maybe ill try it again.

Wood ashes can be a source of potassium and can also be used to raise the pH of your soil when needed.

Back in the day, when I smoked cigarettes and cigars, I would sprinkle the ashes on container and bedding plants. The dad of a good friend, who was a totally outrageous gardener, said the ash was good to help keep pests off your plants [nicotine in the ash]. I can still see him tending to his plants, smoking a big fat cigar; he said it helped keep the bugs away while he gardened.

I guess if you had a huge pest invasion, this would be a good idea for your indoor garden. I think, however, that most of us know that good housekeeping prevents unwanted visitors, but, in a pinch...

Just my

I don't think that was a big fat cigar your friends dad was smoking... it was a blunt.
