HIgh I was wondering about existing ppm amounts in my water. I use a Hanna meter and it says my water right out of the tap is 180 ppm (distilled is 5). Is this number too high and should I go to RO water? Also when adding nutes should I factor in the base reading of 180? For example say I want a ppm stregnth of 1000. Do I add enough nutes to get to 1000, or should I add enough to get to 1180?

Add the tap water when calculating total nutes - the plants see those things too. So you want to make the total 1,000 in your example.

![]() ![]() | Mr.Deeez yes always add your water ppm to the total ppm.Imo i fell 180 is kinda high, the town water i use is 40ppm.Some people with high ppm water like to cut it half and half with distilled;Im not saying you have too, some people feel better about using better water;hell if i could afford it i would use all distilled.Good Luck!Stay Safe!

If they are using Chloramine instead of chlorine, use RO water. Chloramine does not evaporate out like chlorine does.

![]() | Thanks for the info freak. Unfortunately I live in a small town and they don't have a website. I can call them and see if they are using Chloramine in the water. Also how much sodium in the water is ok?
