![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So I'm vegging along. I got my monster, my runt, etc. When I stick my moisture meter down into the soil (sounds dirty pun intended) I notice that some of my plants, especially the smaller and less thirsty ones, have pretty tight packed soil. Others, like the monster (pray she's a girl) have loose soil (typical perlite/potting soil mix).Which is better? Should I pack the loose stuff or unpack the tight? Is that moisture rod smashing up my roots? | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | cannabis prefers loose soil but will grow in about anything. leave seeds in a paper towl by the window and you will have a couple plants in a few days. anyway, your meter could "strike a main nerve", but its slim. i like to keep the same sized bucket, with the same soil, only completly dry. put some type of plastic wrap over it to keep it from blowing everywhere. compare the weight of the two. the dry one and the one with the plant. the plant wont wiegh much if its vegging inside. you can let the pot completly dry out. cannabis is from dry climates.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First off: I don't think leaving seeds in papertowels by the window is the best way to explain a germination technique that uses papertowels and something to keep the towels moist. Your moisture rod is not hurting your roots. A loose mix is best because it allows air into the mix and your plants roots like oxygen and also a loose soil dries out faster, drains better and the plant will be happier all the way around, as you can see by looking at your own plants. Peace and good growing... OD
