Rain water
permalink

Ive been using the water from my rain water tank on my last few grows with no problems,
Ive chosen this way cuz its ph is arround 6.5 apposed to my council tap water which
actually goes past 8.
My question..... is there any possible problems i could come into using rain water.

Rainwater won't have the minerals that are in tap or groundwater, so you may want to keep an eye out for deficiencies and use a fert that has minerals beyond those that provide the NPK in it.

i'd love to use rainwater, but im by the sea, pretty damn windy here *close to the top of windiest places* and the saltlevel is far too high. i dont bother even cleaning the outside windows unless its christmas or something, far too lazy to do it after every rain, rains alot here too

how about you pothole hippy? you have to add extra minerals? how would kelpmeal *?* be for that? i use maxicrop *seeds sprout better f.e if i add a little of it *tiny amount* to the spray i use to wet them*

Rainwater has more minerals than tap water. Rainwater is the purest and most natural form of watering on the planet. It is just a bit difficult to collect it.

this is my 3rd grow, first one i got really serious about, but, i've used rainwater on each grow. seems to work fine. everytime it rains i put out buckets and anything i can to collect the water. i usually just keep it in a bucket indoors til i use it. buying the purified water was getting pricey so i've also been thinking about using water from a river too but, i'm gonna test the pH before i use it.

It's the best stuff going especially since you claim to have a tank. I collect mine from a corner of my roofline in 35 gallon trashcans after a heavy rain. It is important to throw away the initial water after the dust and dirt are washed away from my roof because those contaminates will accumulate over the summer. When the first rains of the season arrive I am carefull to dispose of the first runoff that might hold these contaminated dirt particles. Once it has rained for a few hours the water is 100% cleaner for collection.
If you have a tank, how does the water arrive at the tank? Do you put it there or is it created from runnoff. Early runnoff should be disposed of to avoid contaminated water.

I have a cistern and I used to use the water from it. Then I ran into an issue where some type of disease went through my grow rooms so I assumed it was the water supply. Like I said, this was a cistern so it is quite a bit larger than rain buckets would be so the water sits [stagnant] for a lot longer.
