Should I be using any different or additional nutes?
permalink

This is my first grow and I know very little about growing and even less about feeding.

I have two 3 1/2 week old Lowryder#2s growing in FFOF soil. I also have the Fox Farms trio of nutes. Before I gave either plant anything other than ph'd water, they were showing signs of too much Nitrogen (very dark green leaves, twisting, slow growth), so I want to be careful about the N.

I have fed some FF Big Bloom 0.01-0.3-0.7, and last night for the first time added some FF Grow Big 6-4-4. The plants are young, so I've only been using 1/4 to 1/2 strength, but they are flowering profusely so I'm confused as to what nutes I should be using.

I'm thinking that I shouldn't be using the Grow Big, with the high N, because the plants are already showing signs of high N, and they are already flowering. The problem is that the only other thing I have is FF Tiger Bloom 2-8-4, which I have heard is scary strong and probably too potent for the youngins.

Outside of MG nutes and things I can order online, the only other nutes that I can find locally are the Neptune's Harvest line.
Seaweed 0-0-1
Fish 2-4-1
Fish/Seaweed 2-3-1

So do I stick with the FF trio, use something different or use something in conjunction with the FF? I would appreciate anyone trying to help this newbie do what's best for his plants.

tiger bloom is strong, but you can always just use less.

i dont know much about auto flowring strains. but if they are past 1 week into flower, switch to the tiger bloom and big bloom.

use a 1/4 tsp. tiger bloom per gallon. try about 1/2 tablespoon big bloom. they should enjoy it.

Any higher K food will help you at this point. The plant still needs N to help build plant mass, but not so much P. There seems to be a lot of folks growing these ruderalis hybrids - it's like they should have their own forum or something I haven't grown them but generally speaking you can ease into the feeding and let the plant tell you what it needs.

Yah, stay away from MG. If you need chemical ferts, try Peters. They are good all purpose chemical ferts and MJ seems to like it. Just flush really well with it at the end.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm laying off the Grow Big from now on; the plant is showing signs of too much Nitrogen. Will the other 2 Fox Farms nutes cover the remainder of the grow, or is there something missing?

tiger bloom has all you need to grow. you could always get additives, but they arent needed.

If I were you, I would definitely do some massive research....If you don't read the grow guide, I would at least read the faq section. I'm not saying that experience isn't as important as book smarts, but since you are just starting out, it would definitely be in your best interest to learn as much as possible so you don't make easily avoidable mistakes like trying to use every fert you can get your hands on. It will also help you understand what people are talking about when they give you advice.

Good luck!

tough question to answer. ffof has nutes in it already. maybe stay away from that next time with auto-flowering strains. good luck!!!
