![]() | Howdy some background. been a hobby horticulturist for about 8 years, generally have had good results but am always trying to improve, and the only way to improve is try and ask questions so.... For this grow i am in pro-mix hp with extra perlite in 7.5 gal. pots. Bag seed. . upgraded my light from 430 to 600 W. Finally broke down and bought a cheap ph pen have been adjusting both water and nute solution to 6.2~6.5. I've been using earth juice 2-1-1 for veg, and now that I've started 12/12 i'm going to try something new, wanted to know if anyone else had tried it or had feedback for me. 2 tablespoons of indonesian bat shit (.6-16-.6 I think it says on the bag). 1 tablespoon of earthjuice 2-1-1 1 tablespoon of blackstrap mollases. I'm thinking of adding some jolly farmer worm castings to the brew as well, think i should? To me the bat shit is just too much P by itself, i feel compelled to provide some N as well. The last few grows i've done i've felt the fans started to yellow way too early and i want to maximize my output. From what i've read the molasses is a good source of K. What do you think? Also, if i brew as a tea, should i add the earthjuice and molasses in the jug, and brew it all together, or just brew the bat shit for a day and add the other stuff just before using? Wha da ya all think?

i think the earthjuice should provide enough N. that is if this teas is for flowering. molasses is more to feed the bacteria that are produced from teas. its not a great source of K, although it contains some. some kelp meal, or hard wood ash would do much better. yes, mix it all together at once. the molasses is needed, like i said, to feed the organisms that grow. just be sure to use a bubble stone or something similar. dont use teas that stink. it should smell like if you shoved your face in the ground, or sweetish like the molasses.

Kelp powder also has pretty good amounts of K (4%). Just make sure you get the powder and not the meal or liquid if you're looking for K.

All that said, make sure that when you buy molasses that it is organic molasses, or you may well be putting in a whole world of terrible chemicals. Molasses is what is left over after the sugar has been processed out, which means that many chemicals that were used on the sugar are left over in the molasses, and concentrated. That's no good for an organic grow. Worm castings would be okay for a bit of N, as would a bit of kelp, but neither have N in huge amounts (we're not looking for big amounts right now anyways). I know that a certain person who has been banned from the site but who was a fountain of knowledge for organic growing used only guano and soluble potash (0-0-50) in her flowering teas with perhaps a bit of kelp for all of the extra vitamins and good stuff. She swore by the stuff. My tea has guano, castings, molasses and kelp. 1 Tbs per gallon each.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No they aren't. It also depends on which casting you have; not all worm castings are created equal (diet, etc determines the amount and levels of each nutrient). The castings I'm currently using are only 1% N (1-2-0.7). Another name brand is 1-0-0 (also only 1% N). I'm not sure where you got the idea that castings were all N, but that info was wrong. The beauty of castings is not the NPK it contains, but, like kelp, in the fact that it has a ton of micronutrients and vitamins and is very gentle on plants.
