ok so the nightmare started when i germinated my seeds and realised i was out of ProMix and wouldnt be able to get some for a while so i went to walmart and bought some shultz which after a week i realised it had slow realease ferts. needless to say everything went to shit. they ahve since been transplanted into promix. ive been watering with ph balanced water for a month now and some are recovering. SO i just got a digital ph meter, ran some tap water threw the soil and then tested the run off water. tap water = ph 8.22 run off water = 5.44 so that tells me my soil is highly toxic which i knew anyways... but how do i fix it? if i adjust my water to 9.61 will that get my soil ph back to 6.8 where i want it? thanks everyone

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yepp wat he said, u need to make sure u always do everything with her in small amounts. Slowly bring the pH up or down. You have to think its the same for ferts too. U dont add a shit ton right away if ur having a deficancy some where. U add lil bits as the week goes on n then ull notice a change. When it comes to these plants they are very tempramental and any major change no matter what it is would "shock" its growth. Babe it a lil more and u will start to notice change.

![]() All of those PH#s are great to have, but whats the actual PH of the soil? Believe it or not, but most commercial soils have a buffer built into them , that will keep the soil PH between 6.5 and 7.2. They have to inorder for the product to be usuable by the customer. Really, would you buy a bag of Miracle grow for your pretty house plants if you also had to constantly maintain the PH of it? You know how many people would no long have house plants? Its not an instant type of thing tho, processes have to happen in the soil and that takes a little time. within 18-24 hours of the watering, the PH should have stabilized. That above stays true as long as you are not overfeeding the crap out of the plants and increase the salt in the medium to unhealthy levels.

For tap water to be that high its very very rare, I really doubt this is the actual PH of it. Checking run off water will always be showing acidic and thats not the way you check your soils PH. Did you calibrate that meter before you used it? In Pro-Mix you want your PH at 6.5 not 6.8, and yes I agree with over watering as n_d_ said. Soil PH test: RO water with soil taken from the middle of the pot, mixed to muddy state, drain with a coffee filter or paper towel and test that run off. That will be your soil's PH. Pro-Mix comes set at 5.5-7.0, if the run off from the test is in that range is correct, leave it along. ![]()
