How long can I use FFOF?
permalink

I have 6 plants in the veg stage. They are 4 weeks old and I am waiting to show sex. I transplanted them from 16 ounce cups when they were 2 weeks old into around 3 gallon containers which I am doing a LST to them. Soil is only fox farms ocean forest. Lighting is 2 70w hps on 18/6. I have been using just plain water that I let sit for a couple days to quench there thirst. My question: How long can I use just plain water to water them before I start using nutes? Can I use the soil and plain water for just the veg stage(no veg nutes during veg stage) and when I go to flower them, use my bloom regimen? Or could I use just the soil for the whole grow with plain water(no nutes at all, since FFOF has fert in it)? Thanks.

You could use just water for the next thirty days, in theory, as FFOF is indeed, nice and rich in ferts....

However, if you really want big buds, about the third watering start adding nutes every other. Start low and see how your plants react and then increase from there. Some plants are sensitive and others are hogs for the foodstuff.

Thanks for the info RobinGoodfellow. I read somewhere FFOF was good by itself for veg and was just wondering if others use it without nutes or how long they went before they gave nutes. I was thinking about giving bloom nutes every other watering when I go into flower in a couple weeks, but still use plain water for the first week or so. I think I will use plain water and not give it any veg nutes during the veg stage.

depends on how long you veg for. some people do it for 3 months, others do it a week.

most nuted soils last 3-4 weeks before they could use some more nutrients.

Thanks for your replies guys. Been alot of help. I was going to go a head and feed them plain water thru the whole veg phase and into bloom for the first couple weeks. I transplanted a few weeks ago and now there 5 weeks old today from sprout. Out of 6 I sprouted, I have 2 def. females and maybe 1 male(cant really tell yet). The others arent showing sex yet, but I will be flipping to 12/12 tonight so I can find out what I have. Thanks again for your insight on my soil question.
