Hey all well I decided to build a DWC system for my first indoor grow. It's just a simple 10 gallon tote with lid and I'm only gonna start with 2 plants. My question is about nutrients. Like I can't just go to my local gardening store and say "Hey I need some marijuana nutrients, can you help me?" What do I need to ask for when at a garden store? I know they need different nutes for the vegg stage and flowering, but I am all new to this and would like to get started soon. Any help is appreciated. P.S.- Does the water level in my 10 gallon tote have to touch the bottom of my net pots? Or where should I have the water level? I am using two 6 inch air stones.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Okay, a ton of threads on here about this, I think, but here goes....... DO NOT ask for "MJ nutrients"!! In the average store, they will likely take offense and refuse to sell them to you or something. Tell 'em your growing tomatoes. They take kinda the same nutrients. Or, look around the net for nutrient brands like Humboldt, Lucas, etc., and try to get 1 of the same N-P-K ratios. For instance, Humboldt makes one for hydro at 2-1-6 for grow, 0-6-5 for bloom, and 5-0-1 for a micro-nute additive. (this means they have 2% Nitrogen, 1% Phosphorus, and 6% Potassium for the humboldt grow mix) Or you can even find the same brand you saw here or on the net. Try to get a good 2-part, at least, as I think the all-in-ones are not very good, but that's just IMO. On the water, real quick, put the water to the pots till you start seeing roots, then leave a small space between pots and water, with most of the roots in water. as roots get longer, you can decrease water level slightly. Oh and BTW- EVERYONE , and I do mean all of us, try to go full-strength on the food the first time, or even more. If you get a regular 2-1-6 and 0-6-5 2- part grow kit, use 1/2 strength or a little less untill you see what the plant likes. Some will only need 1/2 strength, some 100%, but it is easier to kick it up next week than to start over cos all your ladies died from Fertilizer burn the first day. Yes, burn can happen in about 3.2 seconds, and then you are toast. Also, stay away from Miracle-Grow, IMO. A few like it, but I think it can cause bad lock-up and salts overload. Also, search the threads for more help- I know I saw posts on this somewheres......

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if i were you i would stick with General Hydroponics Flora Series 3 part {micro grow bloom} or GH Floranova {1part nutrient} you can get everything you need for 20-30 bucks and will last quite a while. most nutrients at the typical garden center wont cross over to hydroponics very well...but they are out there. water level- 1/4" above the bottom of the net pots until the roots are hanging out the bottoms, after that keep the water about 1/2" below the net pot.
