![]() ![]() | Interesting thread... I haven't used Advanced yet but my two cents: every nutrient 'lineup' will require a certain amount of supplements but never anything like what the manufacturer schedules. E.g. Botanicare PBP, which doesn't have enough C/M for my low-PPM water supply, so I need to add about 60% of their rec'd dose of CalMag. I use Liquid Karma, Hygrozyme, and through flowering GH's Floralicious+ to round things out. Karma for the yield (and because everyone loves it, ha) hygro for clean roots and FL+ for flavor. I wasn't satisfied with the base PBP flavor, so I'm giving the FL a try this grow... Nothing else enters the room unless I need to fix a problem, so things don't cost too much. Assuming $20/quart for most of the Botanicare stuff and $20/ea. for the hygro and FL+ it's like maybe $100 or so a grow? Of course, I'm not watering a field here, but. Switching to compatible AN stuff would be like going to their Iguana Juice, as I understand it. Which is supposedly a more stable product - less pH swing, not lacking in C/M, etc etc. It's maybe twice as expensive at $40 a bottle but you get about 1.5 times as much... and maybe you don't need nearly as much C/M. Advanced sells all of the expensive snake oil stuff but a catalyst should be all you need for good organic nutrients... I dunno, you can go ballistic and clean out your grow store but you really don't need to - I don't use much of the extra Botanicare stuff they market, and I'm psyched with the results I get on PBP excepting flavor. I don't think I've seen anyone on these forums use the entire lineup at once, often quite the opposite. Much more important is understanding what each product will do for you / your setup and thus how to get away with the absolute minimum for prolific harvests. Efficiency. Also, all you guys burning yourselves with pH concentrate freak me out. Dilute that stuff, 1/10, add it by the 10/ml a gallon rate and watch what happens... It won't burn you or your nutrients.Last edited by vivitar; 07-16-2009 at 12:54 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I like AN products. Like most any other maunufacturer some stuff seems a bit um...unnessary.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I currently use AN products. I use snesi 2 part for veg and conny for flower. I start flower using bud blood and use big bud as a supplement. I was using carboload powder until it hardened up on me. The nutes work great. I spent a lot of money on all of those nutes though. Next time I nute shop I will be getting the foxfarms line up complete with the add-ins. And spend a fraction of the money. We'll see how it goes.

They always gave me the impression they wanted me to grow well first, buy their stuff second. Makes sense really, if I grow some killer bud with their stuff I'm more likely to come back and buy some more, right? They wouldn't want me to think I got ripped off. Quote:

It's like hating AN is what all the "cool kids" do. I wonder how much of that is because of any real opinion and how much is just to fit in. Quote:

The way I see it they just make a complete tool kit. Depending on what you're doing you may or may not (probably not) need the whole kit. Buy the tools you need, skip the ones you don't. But just cause you don't need certain ones doesn't mean no one else does and it makes sense to cast the widest net you can in business.
