Question Fox Farm Grow Big + Molasses?
permalink

Hey guys, i just got back from a garden shop and i bought fox farms Grow Big liquid plant feed and some blackstrap molasses, i was wondering if it's ok to mix the two together to feed my plant. Like a half table spoon of each in 1 gallon of water? Or should i just make two different fertilizers? Thanks!!

I dont see any reason why it would be bad.

Did you read or hear that there maybe some kind of issue?

1/2 tablespoon of grow big sounds like a lot. Read the directions. I think it calls for 1-3 teaspoons depending on plant size. I wouldn't start off over 1 tsp./gal.

Mollasses can be used with it, but is not needed every watering. Maybe 5-10 waterings the WHOLE cycle.

I have used Fox Farm Grow Big for years and I add 2 teaspoons per gallon along with 2 tablespoons of molassess. This has worked well for me, but you are always better off to start with less and build up till you know what your plants like

I save the mollases for late into flowering and if anything would mix it in with the Big Bloom formula when flowering commences. Grow big is used in veg and I thought mollases was used at around week six of flowering onward. I never heard of the benifits of mollases dureing veg, which is when GB is administered.

Plants do not really benefit at all from Molasses at veg time.

Grower, if you're using all three formulas from FF nutes you can just follow their schedule as printed.
No need to start with small dosages and increase them as you go.

Molasses or other sugar products are to be used in late flowering to bring taste and aroma out.

Floydism, Tiger Bloom its a great solution for flowering but very acidic.
If your tap water is 7-7.5 ph, a full dosage of TB will drop it to 6, so if you're growing in soil you might need a bit of PH up to keep things correct.

Molassess is a natural chelating agent so yes the plants do benefit from it during veg if you have organics in your soil mix because helps break the complex elements down into simple elements that the rootrs can more easily absorb. That's why I use it during vegging, not for the taste

Good morning,

Now I always thought that the Molasses was used to revitalize the organisms in the soil which was used toward the end of the flower cycle during flushs and had little to nothing to do with the plant in general..
I use Fox Farms product line FFOF, GB, TB, BB and their water soluable enhancers. I was so impressed by the Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil after recieving the AK47 clones last year and seeing first hand the difference between the soil I was using and this stuff i've invested into their entire product line and grow all my plants using them now exclusively.
I start cut clones in Fox Farm Light Warrior Agro-ponic soil which isn't quite as hot as Ocean Forest, good for clones & seedlings.
The latest session in flower right now is by far further ahead (in flower production) of where the last session was time wise using the enhancers on the FF Soil schedule (the last set didn't have as much use of enhancers as I hadn't recieved them yet) and these (6) F1 Trainwreck seedlings will be starting there FF schedule as soon as their third pair of "true" leaves show.
I've used alot of different soils and feed combinations over the years that i've been growing and has led me to where I am today. Buying stock in FoxFarm

Have a Great day
don
