Res temp & Aquashield
permalink

I run aeroponics and have 35 gallons in my res and will soon have more. I know water above 85 degrees is harmful to the plants becasue heat damage and the lack of oxygen the water holds.
Q- If the res is 78-80 and Aquashield in the water will roots take up nutes as well if the water was 68?
Q- Do you think 2 ezcloner aerators is enough for 35, 50, 80 gals? probably not huh?
Q- How many nutes is to many?
My recipe for my clones to 12/12 night/day 4 days old:
Pure blend pro bloom
Calmag
Maxicrop seaweed
Superthrive
Molasis
Aquashield
Everything at 1/4 the recommed dose. 300 PPM right now 5.8ph.Occasinally spray n grow or epsom salt or most of the time straight R/O water at 5.8-6.0.

Thanks

I am not totally in the know for all the stuff you are look'n to find out about.

I can say that some growers like the temps at 60 F though.

The difference that the temperature makes is how much DO(dissolved oxygen)the water can hold. The lower the temps are, the more DO the water can hold. Early in my grow I had res temps hitting 80 degrees. Of course my roots were starting to rot. I then got some Hygrozyme. Let me tell you the results have been AMAZING! My plant did a complete 180 degree turn around. As did the roots. I am not suggesting to keep res temps any higher than 71, but if you are in a situation where you can't control the temps well, then I would suggest getting some Hygrozyme. First and most important though, get those res temps down.

word.. I got Aquashield which is suppose to be similar to the hygrozyme just alittle cheaper $. So im thinkning I need to get some air stones in there. Help with temp and more DO in my water. What about the nute Q? u got your ? or anyone else?
How many air stones you got in ur res for X gallons?
Whats your res temp while you use hygrozyme?

thanks

I see your using Pure Blend. Very good choice. I always start half strength, then just monitor you TDS levels(PPM)and most importantly your PH. Remember if your daily ppm check is falling and your PH is rising, your plants are taking more nutes than water. Meaning you prolly could up the ppm of nutes your giving. I grow DWC and use 5 gallon buckets. I use a two 5000 cc/min air pumps for two 5 gallon buckets. I keep two 3" round airstones in my buckets. My res temps are steady 68. If you can't build your own chiller or buy one, then you could do the frozen water bottle method. But that is high maintenance and your temps won't really be steady. Before I built my chiller, my res temps were 75-80 and I was using Hygrozyme and didn't see ANY root problems. IMO go for the Hygrozyme, well worth the money.

No i was talking about the airpump you get with the cloner. The pump is out of the res and you have to run a hose from the pump to the res. It bubbles pretty well...

I know i gotta get that res temp down....

Thanks

SONIC 2208 PRO GRADE LINEAR AIR PUMP 4.6 cfm - eBay (item 300334667152 end time Aug-30-09 11:52:38 PDT)

Do you mean this just for aeroponics, or all hydro? I read that low 70's is OK for flood and drain hydro.

I'm pretty sure you want temps 70 and under with any medium when watering or spraying.
