Flushing?! whats your method?
permalink

I don't think I'm doing it correctly..
Last crop tasted a little weird and didn't burn nice..
I fushed the last 2 weeks of flowering, every 4th day I flushed each plant with 2 gals of ph perfect (6.5 correct?or should it be a little lower?) water and about 2/3 of the water drained out each time.. I never tested the waste water though. they were in 2 1/2 gal pots.
Should I of been using more water each watering?
List your method if you'd like..

General rule is to flush with 3 times the amount your pot holds.Soooo 71/2 gallons per pot is a figure most growers would use.I also use (final phase) a flush product I found on-line.

Using chems i stop for 2-3 weeks. Each regular watering I water till Im tired of it. lol

A 3 gallon pot will get like 10 gallons washed through 4-6 different times. Not all at once though. I soak the soil, let it drain...Resoak, let drain, resoak, drain. Takes about an hour each plant.

You can flush out as many salts as you please...This doesnt change the fact that you just spent 2 months using chemical nutrients. So as the medium or stems may not be full of nute water, those buds are made from chemicals.

To say you can erase 2 months of chemical feeding by flushing I think is overrated. You can flush all you please. Chemicals from the chemical nutrients can still be found in the bud we smoke.

My guess is feeding to much, or not flushing enuogh. Then again dont expect it to taste like some outdoor organic grown bud. Because it NEVER will. This I will argue all day if you want. lol

If your growing for sale production, by all means go hydro...But if your growing for yourself, Id have to ask why you arent using organics.

I dont hate hydro growers. If it sounds that way. Ill just be smoking the properly organic grown before the properly chemical grown any day or night. All Im saying. lol

You really think its expensive?

Compost, castings can be made at home. Could grow decent plants off that alone. Compost if made right contains EVERYTHING.

20 dollars of kelp, guano, store compost will last a personal grow.

I have a weird habit of pouring pHd water into the containers and through the medium when I top off my res.

I've just always done this and I figure it runs clean water down through the Hydroton and into the tray.

This isn't the same as flushing proper, but it keeps the crap from building up in my pots.

I flush with clear water every other res change and run clear pHd water for the last 10 days of flower. My herb burns pretty clean and tastes like it's supposed to, I think.
