Helpful tips on Fertilizing and Nutrients
permalink

Here are a few tips on nutrients and fertilization, that I picked up around the net...I hope that some of you find these useful.

Soils with a high content of organic matter are often quite acidic with a fairly low pH.

Calcium can be used to balance the pH.

Most nutrients are soluble in soils with a pH balance of between six and seven and a half.

Continued use of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium will lower the pH of the soil, this can be rectified by adding some Calcium.

To save overfertilized plants, the soil can be leached by removing the top few centimeters of soil and overwatering with lukewarm water.

Although healthy, strong growing plants love a steady supply of nutrients, you should never fertilize them every day.

A plant growing in a poor soil, low in nutrients will develop better than a plant growing in overfertilized soil.

Although Carbon Dioxide cannot be classified as a true nutrient, it can been used to increase growth during the vegetative stage.

To balance the pH of an acidic soil, crush some egg-shells and soak them in water. Then strain out the shells and pour the water over your plants.

A soil rich in Nitrogen will increase internodal growth in the stems of developing young marijuana plants.

Urine is an excellent source of Nitrogen for marijuana plants, but as it is too concentrated to apply directly, it should always be diluted with water.
NOTE: Please do not pee on your plants and then email me that they have died. If you use this method, be sure to dilute the urine by a ratio of 1 part urine to 6 parts water. Urinating directly onto your plants will burn them up worse than any fertilizer. And, while I have never personally tried this method on MJ, I can tell you that on Gardinias, it increases the bud production by nearly double. This method should only be use on MJ to correct a severe nitrogen deficiency IMHO

Unless the soil is poor in nutrients, a young seedling growing in a large pot doesn't require any fertilizing for the first few weeks of it's life.

Although Cannabis does not grow well in a soil with a low nutrient content, this is preferable to a soil that has been toxified by over-fertilization.

**This plant was NEVER fertilized; however, it was grown in a place where the soil is magical.

Sun & Time. I read tht you should not fertilize during budding...so i don't...my plants aresmall too but tasty ,and outdoors, as opposed to indoors, so i have little control on the climate, other than it's hot and sunny about 300 days a year, here. I use a general fertilizer while they are leafing out, then stop when i see budding, to stop the growth of foilage and theoretically increase the plant concentration on bud and trichome production
Remember....it's not the Size that counts, but rather the sweetness.
