what type of fertilizer is best?
permalink

i know this maybe a stupid question but i went to lowes yesterday and they had so many types w/ different numbers on the front like 24-12-12 and 8-6-12. there was a whole bunch of different combinations and brands. which one do i need for optimum performance out of my plants? also i was reading through some threads a while back and i remember seeing people talk about different chemicals they put in the soil. if someone could please take the time and lay out a list of what exactly i need and the best schedule of administering the individual chemicals to the soil would BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...

I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

My Opinion

From my opinion , I would say to use a miracle grow soil. People complain about it but it basically has evrything your plant need I would put some of this down with some dried leaves and debris of other plants and leaves so it decmposes inot the soil, and put your seed about 1/8 a inch into the miracle grow for it to get some exta air, also water it but dont over water cause over watering with miracle grow is a big mistake. Good Luck with your grow!!

uhhh blazenboo is ill informed....don't use miracle grow, it's NFG. go get some peters 20-20-20 and use it at 1/4 strength once your plants are 3 weeks old, not before that or u will cause fert burn most likely... and don't put pieces of dried leaves & other crap from other plants in your MJ soil...your asking for trouble, like mites & other critters, fungus and whatever else...also use sterilized soil.

I'll jump in here and recommend ORGANICS! The taste is way better, and it's pleasing to know that you're not smoking all that harsh chemical. Fish Emulsion (5-1-1) is great for veggie, as is Blood meal (12-0-0) the 2 together work great. Budding, I use bone meal (6-12-0) and Seaweed extract (.5- .5- 1)
Works great, and a healthy smoke!

I'll second Mama. Worm castings are an excellent fertilizer. Mixed with some nice sphagnum moss/bark/vermiculite.

Throw in some blood meal for N. Some bone meal for P.
Use some fish emulsion.

Making up your own mix is the best way to go....IMO.
