I thought Moth* was short for Moth******** was short for motherf......you get the idea.

Thanks for the clarification! I just don't like MG cos I don't like chemical nutes blended in.

Could you mix in some perlite to help with drainage and then give a good flush before planting? Would that clear some (enough) of the ferts out?

I actually was just going to post that. I did add some perlite to the MG and improves as a growing medium. Add lots of perlite. I thought I had more than i did and ended up short. On one pot though, I added lots, as well as a top layer of MG seed starting soil. Im watching my results but it looks good to me. I recommend anyone wanting to use MG to go this way: 3/4 regular MG potting soil, add a good amount, 1/8 or more extra perlite, then MG seed starter soil (mixed with perlite) on top where the clones are going to first take root.

Actually, with pre-mixed granular fertilizers, which is what MG has in it, the granules are made to dissolve slowly in water.....flushing brings em all out at once first, before getting rid of any of them. Instead of buying MG then flushing, why not get regular non-fert soil and add only what you want for nutes?

But the perlite helps with drainage. I've also used chopped straw, shredded paper, and orchard bark. If you got nothing else, those unscented pine shavings for hamsters and bunnies work good to, to improve tilth. (Tilth = soil that is nice and crumbly, lots of organic matter, and fluffy rather than just dirt/mud)

But shredded newspaper is cheapest. Just the black/gray parts- no colored ads.

yup Dutch Pot (hempy) is the simplest passive hydro ever. Faster than soil too.

2-3 gallon Bucket with 1/2" or less hole 2 " from bottom. fill with hydroton or perlite. plant. Water every two days with a nute solution. Flush with water at end of flower for 2 weeks. If you add to much nutes flush with water and put in different nutes later.

FutureGrowers Hempy guide!

Dutch Pots are very simple and user-friendly. There are no nutes in the medium at all, though, so anything the plant gets it gets from you.
