What additives do you swear by?
permalink

I'm in week 4 of flower now (1st grow) and am starting to see snow all over the buds! I was planning to add Humboldt County's Own Snow Storm Ultra to my list of other additives. Currently I am using the BC Boost / Bloom / Awesome Blossoms / B-1 Green / MagiCal / Sugar Daddy for nutes and supplementing the other waterings with Liquid Karma and Sweet. I have also been using the Sub Culture B and Prozyme for beneficials.

My question is, does Snow Storm Ultra work as promised? Also, what additives do you use for bulking up, sweetening, and improving yield? If you tried something and did not like the results, I would like to hear about it as well.

Thanks!

The idea behind growing your own (besides knowing what was used to grow it) is to get smoke for cheaper than buying it. With all those supplements sounds pretty expensive.

Yeah, I use a crap ton of supplements too. cost me about $100 per grow in nutes and additives. I'm on the GH series of nutes with about five different additives (flora nectar, diamond nectar, flora blend, floralicious bloom and grow, liquid kool bloom). Not sure if they work but maybe next time I grow this same strain I'll try it with only GH three part and maybe a little sweetener plus hygrozyme of course.

The only additive I swear by right now is hygrozyme. The others I use but am not at all convinced whether they help sinc eI have nothing to compare.
I estimate my cost last grow for 4oza with nutes and electricity to be about $40 per ounce. Not bad IMO.

Only additive I use is SugarDaddy, and that's because I got a good number of samples from the hydro store.

Other than that, I am additive free. I'm just not seeing the return on investment with them

I like Big Bud mostly as a PH down during flower after I get my regular nutes in there. Other than that I like good 'ol cheap black strap molasses. Organic goodness.

I use Big Bud, too, just a simple P-K boost, in the ratio I like, 0-2-4

Thanks for all your comments, if anyone else wants to chime in, please do so.

My "nutes" are the Recipe for Success by BC, $60 for enough for this flowering cycle (3 females about 3.5' tall at the moment). Being my first grow and bag seed, I'm willing to throw some extra cash at them if I get more bang for my buck. Plus this is my main supply at this time since my dank guy hasn't been around for months now. I'm not ordering the Snow Storm at this point as I think the alcohol was talking last night when I thought it was a good idea.

EMj and CRAZYTRAIN: Thanks for the encouragement. I need to calm down on spending money anyway.

nilknarf420: Yes, but I don't have connects like I used to. My main supplier (of 5+ Years) is MIA and I hadn't made more connects since he was so reliable. I'm on my own for now, so I want get the most out of my time invested (3 months so far).

countyspud: Thanks! Isn't hygrozyme mostly for hydro? $40/oz is cheap! I hope I can get it down to that in a few years! How long have you been growing? I want to do some tests myself, but I want to make sure these first few grows go as good as possible.

Pesci: The Sugar Daddy was part of my nute package hence why I use it. I would like to do some test once I get a few grows under my belt to see what additives are really helpful and which are hog wash. But in the mean time, I like hearing everyone's opinions.

UpNorth and tripps: Thanks, I'll look at the big bud for next time, not sure what nutes I will be using on my Easy Riders (5 Fem) so that may be a good addition depending on the pH or N-P-K of the nutes.

xjo: Do you grow in soil or hydro? Is Silicon needed / helpful in soil? I saw some Rhino Skin while I was looking around yesterday... what do you use for Silicon? It looks like the canna 13/14 is a bloom booster, I think my BC flower nutes are strong enough, but if I start using something else, I'll keep the canna in mind as well as the big bud which I'm guessing is on a similar line (just less concentrated).

Thanks again everyone!
