| I've never used Superthrive, but I know that it's a popular choice. Brittle leaves? It could be that the plants are over fertilized, and the soil needs leaching/flushing. Something attacking the roots could also make plant turn brittle. Peace, Observer | ||

Check the prices and then the ingredients in these products. "Superthrive" contains only growth hormones (0.09% Vitamin B-1 and 0.48% 1-naphthyl acetic acid), and no nutrients. Ortho Vitamin B-1 Plant Starter has both nutrients and hormones. Both Vitamin B-1 and 1-naphthyl acetic acid primarily stimulate root growth. The Marshes VF-11 contains 0.15% N, 0.85% P and 0.55% K. Schultz contains 10% N, 75% P and 10% K, almost 20 times as much. Schultz, if you notice, costs only $1.39. Also notice that neither Schultz nor Marshes products contain other essential elements, while the Chacon indoor plant fertilizer does. The Ortho plant foods contain many of the other essential elements and come as solid pellets. The pellets are primarily dolomitic limestone and will dissolve in water. Nutrients must be dissolved before they can be taken up by plants. Why might it be useful to have fertilizer slowly be released to the soil, rather than be immediately available.

That's some of what I found so far. Still looking for an actual breakdown of it's components. Must be out there somewhere. BD [This message has been edited by ButterflyDreams (edited March 10, 2000).] | ||
