| My second year growing, my partners 10th. Live in NC. Some of my best plants are turning yellow. We've had above ave. rain, but not extreme.Get approx. 6-7 hrs. sun in woods. At planting, April 1st, we incorporate lime and later add scott's slow release rose fert. 15-18-13. Use sevin for spraying. Have approx. 50- 6-12ft females now, state police plane spotted half our crop, made the front page of local paper). We added a little more fertilizer and lime a month ago, we lost a few plants last year one month before harvest(late Oct. early NOV) and thought maybe soil ph was cause. Any suggestions? | ||

| Could be over fertilization which is quite easy to do, then again it could be the soil like you said. Before you try correcting the problem I'd get a PH tester before adding anything else. If you over fertilized, the tips will either burn or the leaves will curl. Simple yellowing could be a lot of things really...nitrogen deficiency to name one. If its nothing major, don't worry about it, its only natural. Props for that amount of plants at that height Hope any of this helped. | ||

| Your plants a becoming nitrogen deficient as they sexually mature and transfer their food stores from the shaded, lower fan leaves to the uppermost growing tips which receive more sun. This is the natural progression of the plant's life cycle; trying to boost the available N in the soil could only cause probs at this point. The plant will mature normally, if somewhat faster than a well fertilized plant. It will also yield less. Next year, start them with a good source of slow release N, like cow manure 1-1-1 or Fish Emulsion 5-1-1. | ||

| Thanks for tips. Latest visit revealed cause of yellow leaves, we beleive. Close examination of a plant that had fallen over, at the point where stalk goes into soil, showed something had eaten the bark, stalk, and some of the root. Worms. Inch long, black and gold, very thin, plus lots of ants. We put down diazinon, hope it helps with out hurting/killing the plants. Anybody go through this before? Advice? | ||
