![]() | I read in some of the forums that hair, feathers, egg shells, and multi vitamin pills are good for organic fertilizers. I mixed all four together. and mixed everything together pretty well. The quantity of all of these things mixed together was about a tablespoon. I then mixed that with 1 quart of water. I also have about 4 earthworms in with a 2 gallon pot. i have 3 plants in this pot. which i wish not to grow that tall for security reasons. My question is... Is this little mixture good for my plants? and if so what does it do to help. and what other organic things could i use?

![]() ![]() ![]() | <swoops in> Did somebody say...Organic?! ![]() Greetings CB and welcome to Hempcultivation.com ![]() Your mixture sounds pretty good - high in nitrogen from the feathers and hair, calcium and micronutes from the eggshells, more minerals from the multivitamin. Were you able to shred up the hair and feathers and grind the eggshells and vitamin pills? A mixture like yours is better suited for incorporating into the soil rather than making a tea - your ingredients aren't very water-soluble. If you want to feed them in the water, fish emulsion or blood meal tea are a better bet. If you're interested in growing strictly organic, you should know that vitaminpills are not really an organic source because of the form of some of the nutrients. but some growers have had success with them, go for it if it doesn't matter to you either way. Check out this page for a bunch of info on organic fertilizers and recipes for soil mixes. Worms: good. Pot: too small, it will restrict the root growth. (you can keep them short by pruning or scrog instead.) If you have room it would be best to give them each a 2 gallon pot, if not, move at least one of them out...how old are they? Let me know if you have any more Q's, that's what I'm here for ![]() organic ![]()

![]() | They are all about a week-week and a half old and 4 to 5 inches tall... could you tell me the effects of what would happen if the roots growth is restricted...and one last question. what is scrog? i've heard of it by i haven't found or heard really what it is. oh and a couple other questions...(sorry about the rambling) what is my little mix good for?? is it good for the vegetation stage. or the flowering...or both. if not the flowering then what would be good for the flowering stage. i know i need P. but what has P in it??? and i'm talking about things that are easy to get like organic things i don't have to buy.

![]() ![]() ![]() | When they get rootbound, the plant gets stressed, the growth slows dramatically, and it increases the chance of your plants turning hermie (not a good thing). Also with 3 plants in a pot like that, they will all be competing with each other for light and nutrients. ScrOG stands for "Screen Of Green", a growing technique where you train your plants to fill in the space in your grow area. There is a forum here dedicated to it, you can check it out for much more detail. Are you growing indoor or out? -o

![]() ![]() ![]() | oh, sorry. for some reason I only saw the top of your last post... :O don't worry about rambling, most of the time people put in too little info, not too much. ![]() check out the link I put into the earlier post - it has various recipes for ferts with different ingredients and a list of NPK ratios for various organic ferts. you can use the info there to make up your own mix. anyway in reply, that mix is high in Nitrogen and probably trace minerals from the vitamin depending on what's in it. There's a bit of P and K in the eggshells. for vegetative growth, you want an NPK ratio of 2-1-1, for flowering you want a 1-2-1 ratio. at this point your ferts are OK because you're going heavy on the N, but you do want to get some P in there, it helps the plant develop stronger roots which means bigger buds. Bone meal is good for that, and it releases over time so you'll have P later when you start flowering.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, Hector, same concept...think of the buds as the fruit of the plant. I'm not sure about it *inducing* seeds to form, but I would guess if you allow the plant to form seeds, they'll be stronger than they would be without it.
