Question
permalink

Okay, I got some new toys for Christmas for my little room and one of the items was a Tri-Meter. It measures PH, Nutrients (PPM) & Solution Temp.

In my system at home, I use an Ebb & Flow system with rockwool as my medium. I use Quick Grow 1,2 & 3 for my nutrients and follow mixing directions to a "T".

So far these are my readings from the Meter:

PH: 6.3
Nutrients (PPM): 135 (Multiply by 10 = 1350)
Temp: 80F

I'm not too sure what my nutrient level should be at. I've followed the mixing directions accurately for the food I use for my plants and would like to know if anyone uses a nutirent meter of some sort regularily. It says on the meter that the displayed number is to be multiplied by 10 in order to get the accurate number.

My plants are just seedling and are about 1 week old. Not too much happening with them, but I assume they are developing a supporting root system. They look good and don't seem to be discolored in any way.

So, My question is: What should the nutrient levels be at for the Seedling, Vegatation, & Flowering stages?

Thanx In Advance

Question What nutes?

What nutes are you using?

GH, DynaGro?
What is your reading at?
Don't forget to sybtract the ppm for the water you are usign as well ...

I've been doing a little brushing up
You can start out at about 800-900 ppm for seedlings I believe and see how they react and slowly increase the ppm as they grow ...

Well...What is use for my nutrients is a local Hydro Solution called "Quick Grow". It comes in 3 parts. Part 1 & 2 are mixed to certain degrees for Seedlings and for Vegetation. Then 2 & 3 are mixed accordingly during the Flowering stages. Ex. For seedlings, you mix 3ml of each part (1 & 2) for each Litre of water and for full growth, you mix 5ml of each part (1 & 2) for each Litre used. So on and so forth. Right now it is mixed 4ml for each litre, since my plant aren't quite seedlings and not quite full growth.

My current reading on the Meter is 138 (Multiplied by 10 would be 1380). The one seedling (About 2") did start to yellow on the bottom, but only the first set of leaves (Not sure what they are called. They are the first round leaves to come up with the seedling). All the other spikey leaves are a perfect green with teeny-tiny white spots on them that look like THC crystals. Strange, but they've been on there since day 1 and there hasn't been any major change. They look perfect.

I'm checking them very often and are making sure they aren'
t reacting to an abnormal nutrient level. I found some articles with a chart, but they seem off the mark:

Tell me what you think.

Seedlings: 50-150 PPM
Unrooted Clones: 100-350 PPM
Small Plants: 400-800 PPM
Large Plants: 900-1800 PPM

These can be found at:

Okay, I added a 140 Litre (35 Gallon) resevoir to my setup. I needed the extra space in order to keep enough solution in my tray as well as still have enough in the resevoir to be pumped around. It's a 2'x4' Tray with 8 plants (Maximum of 12).

2'x4' Tray - 20L (5G)
Resevoir - 74L (15G)

Anyway, I measured the ppm for the tap water (210ppm) and subtracted that from my current nutrient reading (830ppm). So, I have a nutrient reading of 600ppm. From what I've researched, that should be good for small plants...
