![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes you can use it as part of your mix, and it's an excellent soil conditioner, but there is a potential issue. Fresh sawdust eats Nitrogen as it decomposes, and will steal it from the plants. To counteract this, all you have to do is boost the N - you'll probably have to fert a little more often, just keep an eye on the plants for N stress. The alternative, if you can locate it, is to use sawdust that has been aged for at least 1 year and preferably 2. I've never heard of anyone using straight sawdust as a medium, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done or won't work. You'd definitely have to use a hydro setup for it, and if it's ground too finely you'd likely have problems with clumping. Hempgirl, keep asking questions and I'll keep answering them and between us we'll have written a pretty good primer on organics. ![]() I have a lot of information that you'd probably be interested in, but for the time being just keep asking questions. That way everyone can share the knowledge. ![]() - O | ||
