Hi, im new to this forum. My question is regarding Nitrogen.
I have grown vegetables in the yard, and have tons of house plants, but never have had too much luck growing MJ.
Well, now i have a few healthy plants goin, they seem to be doing fine.
My question is: Can i make my own Nitrogen based plant food using AMMONIA?
It seems to have worked great for all my other plants, making the leaves HUGE and GREEN.

This planting guru on TV was saying you can make your own plant food.
For the Nitrogen, you use Ammonia
For the Phosphorus, you add COLA (cola contains phosphoric acid, plus the cola contains Sugar which plants seem to like)
....And so i tried it and it worked good on most vegetable, house plants.

WILL this work on my weed? If so, cool! If not, off to the store to buy some Plant food. Tell me what you think.

Ammonia (NH3) contains nitrogen but it is not in the best form for plant uptake and may have a negative effect on flavor of the finished product. Nitrate nitrogen is a better form. Check out Delta's Raw Salts thread for more information on that and mixing your own ferts in general.

I've used ammonia in my cannabis, but you need to really dilute it (2 Tbs per gallon of water) and stop using it when the plants go into flowering. Better yet, amend the potting mix with some composted cow manure (it's cheap and no, it doesn't smell at all) or if you have an aquarium, siphon some water from the bottom of the tank and use that. During flowering, use more phosphate (triple phosphate). I've heard about the cola but never tried it. Cola contains citric acid which could raise the acidity of the soil (bad), so be careful. Also, I discovered that cannabis has a fairly high magnesium/sulfur requirement when my plants started showing signs of deficiency (yellowing between the veins and burned edges). Epsom salts do the trick. You can give them a dose about once a month (1 Tbs per gallon of water) or foliar feed (better). And it wouldn't hurt to stick a couple of rusty nails in the soil for iron. Watch using too much prepackaged fert, since as it breaks down it can cause the soil to get acidic. These tips worked like a charm for me and my plants are gorgeous (and they smoke reeeeeealllly nice...)

Yeah i dont have a Ph meter, im fairly new at this with mj, and i definetly dont want to screw up the acidity levels in the soil.

I was reading this thread someone posted about how we experiment with other plants, manhandle them, and even neglect them; But when it comes to MJ were so paranoid to hurt them, because of the gifts they bring lol.

I have a Turtle, used the waste on some habanaro peppers i grew, i'll add that to the MJ. WOW the nails are a good idea. Thanks 4 the feedback
