its totally up to u..if you want your babies to have some extra nutes laying around thats fine but if you want to add nutes after they show signs of needing it thats also fine.. you will find there is always more than one way to do things, its up to u

It's not a big deal, you can always add them when you water.

thanks for the info. just another question. some ppl say to soak rockwool in a ph of 5.5 and others say about 5.7-5.8 because of nutrient availability. what would be the optimum ph to start seeds in??

The purpose of pre-soaking rockwool is to flush out the alkaline residue left behind by the manufacturing process.

The pH of the soak solution doesn't matter too much, but the lower the pH the faster the deposits will be dissolved. pH < 5 breaks down rockwoool and should be avoided. At pH 5.5 you only need to soak for a couple of hours, at pH 7 or higher you should soak overnight.

After soaking, flush it out again with your starting solution @ pH 5.8.

If you are starting seeds you can use plain water @ pH 5.8.

That is incorrect. Optimally, the pH should fluctuate over time, as there are some nutes that are mutually exclusive at some pH's. I persoanlly recommend dropping the pH to 5.5, then letting it drift up to 6.1. This ensures your plants get all the nutrients they need.

Damn Overnight? I never soak my rockwool over night. I fill my sink, PH the water to about 5.7-5.9 and throw cubes in for like 10-15 minutes I am having about a 90% root rate. Im using "rootech"
