For water you'd be better off getting a digital meter (pen type), soil go for a probe type

both can be found at most hydro stores, i got mine from ebay tho

Any garden/home center will have a probe type soil meter. Pens for water will only come from mail order or hydro shop.

All of these items can be compared and priced by simply doing an internet search for "pH meter"....., pH pen, etc. Ebay is another place to compare and price out meters. However, they may not always have the best price.

In my area (NY), there's not much of a point in shopping for these types of items in the hydro stores. They're massively over priced by 300/400%!

Be cautious of some low end meters as well. Ebay is full of them. These meters aren't good for much more than the swimming pool. Ebay does have quality meters available. I bought my last meter there, and paid 50% less than the next best price I'd found.
